View Full Version : Why Garnet/Dagger?

Why do you think that Garnet is the best lead-FF girl ever?

I think she is because she's believable, and she's outgoing and sweet. I'm not saying the others are unbelieveable, I'm just saying, I like Garnet the best. Plus, she's with Zidane, and that's the second-best couple in FF history! I just love Garnet!!!

Any different opinons? All opinions are accpeted, just don't make flames or stupid remarks. :D

She was one big walking cliche. She was everything a Princess should be. I love her. <3

Personality-wise, I prefer Rinoa over Garnet, but Garnet's innocence is amusing at times. =)

She was very.....boring to say the least. Same goes for Zidane. The romance thing was really half assed. That being said there hasn't been an FF romance I feel hasn't been half assed.

I thought that one was good, and most Female leads in FF arn't really great. Garnets a pretty good one, and sadly the best. I'd Say Rydia is the best, but technicly she's not the female lead.

If your looking for great female leads there are far better games than FF for that, such as Selen From Lufia 2, Shion and Kos-Mos of Xenosaga, Virginia of Wild Arms 3, I enjoyed Earthbounds, though I don't remember her name, and that one chick from Phantom Brave, I forget her name. Those are great Female leads right there.

Garnet is the best in my opinion. She's shy yet later she is outgoing cuz she warms up to Zidane. She beautiful that's for sure. I found her a joy to watch. :D Her personality had some issues at the start but they were cleared up later. She was very kind and sweet. She is the best female lead in my opinion. ^^

I like her but I hate the naive version of Garnet. She look like an idiot if she is in the version. I know, Vivi is naive but he is still a kid!

Zidane: Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, this is going to be funner than putting a FFIV fanboy to shame for saying FFIX is a FFIV clone(no flame intended, but they realize I'm right everytime) I indeed believe Garnet is the most believable female character in Final Fantasy history. The girl...acts like a girl. Tifa, Aerith, Rinoa, they were actually hitting on the lead males, what's up with that? And then Cloud and Squall reject them until disc 3. Garnet is believable, with her sheltered life, she is easily offended by Zidane's flirts. A guy hitting on a girl, and the girl rejecting...wow, like how young people act in real life, what a concept! Any newbies who read this, feel free to read "Stop Whining!" for more details.

Dunno what you're talking about....I'm a guy and girls are always hitting on me...Oh wait. Nope. Nevermind, I just realised that's a load of arse.

Anyhoo, I liked Garnet. But one could say she's the only lead female I've ever actually experienced (ooh that sounded dodgy...). But, kick my balls if you must, I did *strained* quite like...Yuna. I thought she was twee. Though Garnet would have to be my fave.

At first I didnt like her, but when I seen the FMV of her stood in front of the castle I got goosebumps. She had matured a lot more through the game and it was moving to see her become a queen. She isnt my fav FF girl, but after awhile her personality can grow on you. And she suited short hair soooooo much more then long!

I hear ya. Some ppl only look at her from what she was at the beginning but they don't see how muhc more mature she is later in the game.

I'll admit they did seem a bit distant and not much of a couple at the beginning, but that's what Square intended. It was supposed to start off small, and then they realised they loved eachother. Kinda the same with Beatrix and Steiner, then again.

Beatrix is too darn proud to ask Steiner out and Steiner is too darn shy...conflict. :shifty:

Wait...yr rite. But one way or another, they would confess and date, and Steiner would probably be a man and ask, one day or another...

Yes, god forbid the day a women hits on a man. Something like that would never happen in real life, :rolleyes2

Though yes, on every other count your right. She did seem like a real person, had very real responses for the kind of person she was.

 Garnet was a perfect girl for everyone. She's a real girl, and not a stereotypical, classic heroine in other FFs. That's why I liked her so much :D

ermm, when a girl hits on a woman, the man has to guess what to do next.

When a man hits on a girl, it's sexual harrasment, unless the girl fansied the man first.

garnet is realistic compared to all the other ff girls.

rinoa is childish and rather annoying, aeris is just a little too nice and flirty, tifa is okay too, selphie is too hyper, yuna is too respectful and gets on my nerves when she bows every single time she talks:mad:

garnet is sweet and she is nothing like a princess would be, spoiled, bratty, and etc...

I played the game when I was 14, that was five years ago, so my opinion about Garnet/Dagger might change if I replay the game, but from what I remember about her, she's a very sweet character. She has a lot of tragic and sad things happen to her and she has to go through a lot of things, and I felt sorry for her about some of the things that happened in the game. She's also very cute, and her eyes are just so sweet.

Ahem, anyway, the love story between her and Zidane gets a lot of development, but I thought it was a realistic and a well executed love story, with the two having a "true friends" style relationship, meaning they were there to help and support each other rather than everything being just romantic hugging and kissing. The "You're Not Alone" scene in Pandemonium, when Dagger helps Zidane get back to his senses, is especially meaningful, and a really fantastic scene in the game.

Personally, I didn't like Garnet until later when she actually got accustomed to how things are. Up until then, she was just the stereotypical 'omg I'm the princess help me!!', with some other funny one-liners. After she cut her hair and was like "oh, now I know what to do', and I'm like 'it's about time'. Oh god, and the mute event..ugh. I kept wondering why she wouldn't do anything. Ah well.

Still, she has Bahamut. :cat:

Raine > Terra > Tifa > Rosa > Garnet.

She is by far not the best lead :) Even though Raine wasn't a lead. But she was better then all of them.

Zidane: I fail to understand, I believe Garnet is a more believable female than Rosa, Tifa, Terra, and Raine(whoever that is) put together, if that's what you're saying, shouldn't it be like this?

Raine < Terra < Tifa < Rosa < Garnet.

I totally agree the princess version of Garnet is pathetic especially when she is always talking about her mother itīs always like:

Well, IMO She is a little rough around the edges at the beggining, if you could train her enough before she gets split up with the rest of the party, you could finish your battles quicker by summoning, and she can't summon untill you earn each ediolin (I think thats what they're called.) Of course, i'm always glad when I found out on how she responds to Zidane, and gets the party out of trouble.

Overall, she's pretty well balanced, and Ok.

Please don't hurt me!!!!!! <Ducks and covers head>
