how do you do near death attacks

ive been near death a lot and ive never been able to do em how do you activate them

I believe that they are completely random. I don't think that there is any way for the game player to force it. I've never actually seen it happen either so if it is random then the chance of it happening must be pretty low.

They happen at random when a character's low on HP... after playing through FFVI twice, I've only ever seen a couple of these moves.

You have to be so low on HP that your character is crouching. Then, when you select the Fight command (nothing else will activate it), you have a very small chance of a Near Death Attack occuring.

I've seen Mash, Locke, Edgar and Celes perform the trick in my 2 playthroughs. No one else.

All My character have done it at least once. (Edgar done it 3 times in a row against Kefka) Now
1- it doesn't have any relevance to your hp except you have to be in yellow life.
2- Waiting at low life will not increase the chances but will steadily decrease them.

and 3- You have more of a chance at using it on a strong enemy like Doom-Gaze.(thats the one he used it three time in a row against.)

I've seen Moogle Rush, but that was because I was basically challenging the third path with half dead, useless characters. It's Bum Rush, but nowhere near as cool.

Umm...Sabin and Edgar do not have the same desperation attack

Edgar's is Royal Shock
Sabin's is Tiger Break.

I've only seen Celes' Riot Blade, I believe that's what her's is called. It was nice to see her do 9,999 damage to Kefka and kill him, right after he used Fallen One. xD

I've gotten Terra's and somebody else's before when I was trying for it. I think one time I was fighting regular enemies, but this was a long time ago, so I can't remember too well. I think I remember using Terra's on Kefka once, but when I tried to do it again he killed me. I've seen Terra's a few times.
