Well, are you using disc or a ISO?

How's the Pete GPU plugin configured? You can use the Copy settings to clipboard option when configuring it to paste them here :p

Also, is this the US or Euro version of the game? I think the Euro one needs some patch to run correctly too.

You'll need to rip it to ISO and patch it. It has complex copy protection, disabling the emulators from running it.
You can find some patches here, and you'll need a patching utility to patch the ISO. Google for "IPS patcher" or something to get one.

the patch won't do. my pc hang in the middle of patching the file. any site where is can download an already-patched of the ff9 disc 1 copy?:(

If you're using an image, you don't actually need to apply the patch, just leave it in the same folder as the image with the same filename (except extension) - recent versions of epsxe will autopatch as it plays so you don't have to bother :p

Just buy a PS1. They're relatively cheap nowadays.

Rename the patch the same as the image file, and put it in the same folder with the image.

ePSXe v1.6.0

BIG mistake!
ePSXe 1.6.0 is known to hang at beforementioned spots.

Use ePSXe 1.5.2 instead!
