Not really, not in the traditional sense. I think the most likely explanation (and stick with me on this one) is that the human mind imprints it's thoughts into the world around it. If you go through a particularly traumatic life/experience then the strong emotions cause an even stronger imprint on your environment.

I don't quite understand the third option. I've never seen a ghost before(or atleast I think I haven't) so until I do I'd stick with the possible option

I dunno. I do and dont believe in spirits. According to "Most Haunted" you dont have to see ghosts to know they are there. Sometimes you smell something a spirit can leave behind in a place it has visited, like a perfume they use to wear or in our case, pipe tobacco.

In our home in Ireland, my aunts father spent afew days there before he went onto his hometown where he passed on 2 days later. Now when we went to the house a couple of months after that, we could smell his pipe tobacco in our living room. It scared us cause we only smelt it for about 6 seconds, then it was gone. And that place had been cleaned from top to bottom for our arrival, so where the smell came from we dont know. But after hearing about smells, I believe it was him.

Well, I definately believe in a spirit world. Although *why* ghosts would exist in a universe of Intelligent Design, I'll never know. You'd think the planning of the afterlife would be a little more orderly than to just allow the dead to wander off. But ghosts, appiritions, and me randomly turning into a pepperoni pizza before finishing this paragraph, are all far more statistically possible than the existance of a force moving faster than light. And yet gravity does just that constantly. So anything's possible.

But seriously, I believe in ghosts in the sense of spirits that linger in this world to contact family mothers and stuff. However, I don't really think peoples spirits come back to kill people and stuff like that.
