CH CH CH CH CH CHAUNCEY BILLUPS!

Pistons are going to win it all. If Shaq or Dirk or Nash try to give them problems the Sheed will just kill them and the Ben "Marcellus" Wallace will let out his fro of death and it will be over. Even LeBron faltered under the tenacious D.

I hope the Heat win. I think Dallas will take it all but I think the Heat are the team to beat(This doesn't even make sense). They beat on the Nets like they were garbage. Detroit barely squeeked by Clevland and should be a little tired still.

Dallas vs Suns....DALLAS. Dallas should have been the Number 2 seed due to their record and they beat last years champs to move on. The Suns have their hands more than full and I think it will flood out everywhere.

Heat Vs Dallas is the final game and the Heat will take it in 7.

They are but they still hammered them hard and got the rest those 30 year olds need. Also coming off of a series where you obliterated the other team and then see the other team struggle against their oppenents give you more confidence and may have exposed weaknesses in the other team that you had not thought of.

The Heat will win game 1 of the next round, and have a slim chance at winning one more game after that, but you can't go wrong with D-Troit in the east. the Heat don't have anyone as good as LeBron James to take on the Pistons' tenacious defense. Wade might do well, but without a Shaq that's at least 5 years younger, no NBA Finals for Miami. Detroit is talented on both sides of the ball and has playoff experience to boot.

In the west, there's no contest. Offense wins games, defense wins championships. In past years, neither of these teams had any defense. Dallas scraped some up from somewhere, and now they're the team to beat in the West. If Phoenix had Amare Stoudemire, this would be a much closer series, and I might give the win to the Suns. I give them props for getting this far without him, but they will advance no further.

Now, the Finals. Pick 'em. I want to see how the Mavs are playing in the Conference Finals before I pick a champ.

i wish that the lakers was still in it, but i think the pistons will win mainly because of their experience and the fact they are without a doubt, the toughest team in the nba at the moment. i think the mavs will kill the suns, and the pistons will take the heat in a 4-2 series but the pistons will come out on top.:choc2:

Raistlin
05-24-2006, 02:05 AM
The Heat... taking it all? Give me a break. Shaq is old and they haven't played a good team yet. Detroit is the best team in the east and will more than likely make it to the Finals again.

In the west, the Mavs are the best team. The Suns beat them last year, but they don't have Amare. I don't think the Suns can beat the Mavs this year, but the series will sure be entertaining.

I don't think the Mavs can beat Detroit, though. :( Damn Detroit.

Kirobaito
05-24-2006, 02:15 AM
I would hope that the Suns would win. They got to play two sub-50 win teams to get to the conference finals, something that I'm not sure any West team has ever had to do in recent memory.

Nash is getting tired. He admits it. He won't get 3 days off for this series like he did for game 7. He'll wear out. The Mavs are stronger and healthier than they've ever been. Mavs in 6. Plus, you know... they actually play a lick of defense.

The Pistons will beat the Heat in 5 or 6.

And the Mavs will beat the Pistons.

And hey. Suns are exciting. What do you know. LA sucks, that's what you know. We beat the out of both your crappy teams.
They also play no defense. And they hardly beat the whatever out of either. They struggled with both, and if Nash doesn't get 3 full days off, I think the Clippers take Game 7.

Also coming off of a series where you obliterated the other team and then see the other team struggle against their oppenents give you more confidence and may have exposed weaknesses in the other team that you had not thought of.
Sounds identical to the situation between the Mavs and Spurs. That's not the way it worked out. The Mavs knocked the out of the Grizzlies and the Spurs struggled against the Kings, and that really didn't change the way the series worked out. The two teams were extremely evenly-matched, with the Mavs having the superior depth and athleticism and as a result of it taking the series, even with inferior experience.

The Heat took this one when they should not have.

Detroit was 31-82 FG and 5-21 3pt.
Heat was 36-64 FG and 5-14 3pt

All those extra chances WASTED by Detroit. They were good on the boards but they couldn't hit a shot at all.

The Heat also had 15 turn overs to Detroit's 6.

Was the Heat that much better on D in general or was Detroit just that ty on offense? I don't have cable so I don't get to watch all the games.

Not really. Raja Bell was the one having a tissy fit. The guy doesn't understand that Phil and Kobe were just playing mind games... and he played right into their hand. Bell is just lucky that the Lakers blew game six, or he'd be looking pretty damn stupid.

I'm not too concerned. If Nash gets called for the proper offensive foul, and Harris doesn't get called for his phantom offensive foul, Mavs win. They're a better team. They lost Game 1 to the Spurs, too. They'll adjust and win in 6.

I'm more concerned about the fact that my mom only left half an hour on a tape to record 3 hours of Lost.

Pah. You can't discredit the Suns for coming back and makin it work when they needed to. You gotta admit Diaw was one cool cucumber taking that last shot to win it. Waited for the right shot, jumped and whammy.

I am a little distraught over Bell's injury, though. Oh well.

I'm starting to hope Suns win only to shut Kiro's cockiness down. Which is always fun.

Why are people thinking just because Raja Bell got injured on Wednesday night it's gonna be a huge factor winning tonight's game? He hasn't even been playing his best against the Lakers or Clippers. He can definitely help, but he's not as critical as Marion or Nash.

By the way, go Suns tonight! :D

Cid

The Lakers? Are you serious? I must have missed the headlines, cause I only saw him mess up only a couple hundred times, unless my eyes are playing tricks on me.

EDIT- May 6, 2006: Missed Game 6 of Round One against the Los Angeles Lakers (suspension).
May 3, 2006: Suspended by the NBA for one game for his actions on May 2 against the Los Angeles Lakers. (www2.sportsnet.ca)

EDIT 2- D'Antoni said Leandro Barbosa will start in Bell's place, with Eddie House and possibly James Jones getting added minutes, too. sportsillustrated.cnn.com

Raistlin

Bell is Phoenix's best perimeter defender, too (they had him on Kobe during the Lakers series), which is critical against a highly-offensive team like the Mavs. Of course, Nash and Marion are the foundation for the Suns, but Bell is a big part of that team.

Kinda hard to make a shot when the other team plays good defense, which the Mavs without a doubt did tonight. Perhaps you don't recognize it, because the Suns are perfectly happy with not doing it. That said, the Suns want to be a jump-shooting team. Get used to them not falling. Welcome to Mavsworld, circa 2002. It's an old story.

This game doesn't mean much, because the Mavs had to have this game and the Suns didn't. Now, time for the Mavs to steal one or both of the games in Phoenix, which they can certainly do, and I expect them to. Mavs in 6.

Either you really hate me or you really hate the Suns or both. I can't tell which.
I far from hate you. I don't even hate the Suns. I just don't understand why teams are still trying to pull the same crap that the Kings and Mavs did 5 years ago. Both teams proved then that it didn't win championships. Why else would both of those teams now be trying to win with defense? The Mavs led the league in scoring for like 5 straight years and never got past the conference finals. The one time they GOT to the conference finals was the season they gave up 95 ppg, but lost because of Dirk's injury and the fact that they were a terrible rebounding team. The Suns score a lot, but don't play defense and are one of the worst, if not the worst, rebounding teams in the NBA.

In Game 1, the Mavs decided that they were going to slow the tempo by attacking the offensive boards. This didn't work, as the Suns got plenty of fast break opportunities. The Mavs realized that they could outrebound the Suns with one arm tied behind their backs, and didn't need to attack the offensive boards. So in game 2, so they got back in transition and didn't give up easy buckets, and still outrebounded the Suns by 9.

I make fun of the Suns because they've put together a Euroleague roster and not an NBA roster. Teams win in the NBA from the inside-out. The Suns work from the outside-in. It's as simple as that.

The Heat have been dominating the Pistons. They are now up 3-1 and will likely go to the finals. Detroit looked bad against the Cavs and that has not changed. Instead of Detroit taking it in 5 or 6 like everyone has said(including some here) it looks like the Heat will take it in 5 or 6. The Heat had a bit of early trouble against the Bulls but they pulled everything together during the Nets series.

Miami has definitely surprised me. But it's more that Detroit has been surprisingly disappointing. Good god, they've been sucking.

The Suns are in trouble. They've been hanging in against the Mavs even without one of their best players (Amare). If the Suns had Amare, I think they would beat the Mavs again this year. But they don't, so they don't have much rebounding or post-up ability. However, I've been very impressed with how well they've done so far. I expected the Mavs to walk all over them.

edczxcvbnm
05-30-2006, 05:35 AM
Boy, that Dwayne Wade sure is something.

I will say that Wade is really good but if you look at the rest of the team and most of the the subs they put in...are they bad? Hell no. Most of the Heat is really good. Good enough to be afraid to always double team Wade like you would do to Lebron. Wade can get more open shots because there are enough other threats on the court.

That isn't to say he isn't one of the best new talents in the NBA but it does make it easier for him to put those crazy numbers.

Del Murder
05-30-2006, 05:42 AM

No team can do that every game. It takes a perfect game by the Suns to win. They can't play perfect every game. Jump shots don't always go in. They did today. The Mavericks didn't hustle and didn't play with the energy it took to win.

And I can't wait for the word from Stu Jackson on whether Marion will be suspended for Game 6 for his elbow. I'm sure he won't be, though, guaranteeing that there truly is something seriously sinister going on with the NBA office.
