What is your favorite anime series? Post an explanation if you want.
Mine is Neon Genesis Evangelion. Who can resist unique characters, freaky plot twists, and giant robots fighting even bigger aliens?
BTW, sorry for my crappy poll selection, I just posted all the well-known stuff.

I love Serial Experiments Lain. It's amazing. I think everyone should see it at least once. It's so trippy!

RahXephon. Yes, it seems like an Eva rip-off at first, but there are many elements to the story that seperate Xephon from Eva. The whole universe and character interaction had me hooked. In fact, I just finished watching it again a few days ago.

Scrapped Princess. Just watch it. It's one of the best I've ever seen. Lain is good too, I love mindfuck stuff. Also worth noting is Bleach and Fullmetal Alchemist. Bleach is the only anime I'm interested in at the moment.

Paranoia Agent, Bebop, Champloo, and FMA... I haven't gotten Bleach yet, but it's next on my list because people won't quit poking me about until I watch it.

.hack//Sign

I really enjoyed the world and everything created in it. It is like a slightly easier to understand version of Ghost in the Shell with the soul becoming detached from the body and stuff like that. Memories implanted into the game.

It is hard to separate the series from the whole story though as it was designed that way from the start.

.hack//roots and .hack//GU look to be taking the series in a more serious and darker direction.

No, it just really isn't for everyone. It moves extremely slowly and is entirely character driven, and a lot of people can't stand that. Roots is probably more appealing, but I have to watch it myself to judge. It seems to move faster and have more violence and such.

.hack//roots does seem to move fast and it should accomplish far more in the end but it still does move slow. It took 3 episodes for Haseo to join Ovan's Guild and that happened at the end of the episode.

Being a hack fan in general, one really big appeal to me is that there is more to the story than is ever told. The story has this huge mysterious back story that they have always dropped hints and bits of information about to help explain things but they never truely flesh it out. From the original poem that inspired the game Fragement which eventually became The World, to the whole problem with the virus Pluto's Kiss and how one OS became the only OS used in the world. All of that is very interesting.

Series moves slow as hell but there is a lot to it that isn't said which has always helped to keep it very interesting as you go through everything.

Yes, but I like calling things stupid. I will admit it had a good premise, also what is this Roots?

Roots is a new .hack anime that is currently airing. It is up to episode 7 out of 26...But I am guessing on that. It is the start to the new .hack project that is underway. This series will introduce you to characters and the new World and then pick up in the new PS2 .hack trilogy entitled .hack//G.U.

.hack//roots is the newest series that is currently airing in Japan. I haven't really watched it because there are only mkv files out which I can't get to run.

Yet.

*ahem*

Anyway, Note that this is just beginning info but it does have spoilers for those not familiar with all of the past .hack stuff and those who haven't really been following the whole GU thing. .hack//roots follows the Multiweapon Haseo. At that point the original version of the world crashed and it has been reassembled into a new game. PKing has become fairly rampant, and Haseo is a relatively new player to the world. As I understand, roots follows his own travels through the world as he grows in power. You do know that he eventually becomes the legendary PKKer before being data-drained by Tri-Edge, a malevolant being that resembles Kite, the main character of the original video games. Of course, you will play as Haseo in .hack//GU, which just came out in Japan.

Those MKV files are a bitch. Shinsen-Subs is putting out avi files of this series though. They are slower but good. They are up to episode 5. The only thing I have found to play the mkvs that groups are putting out for roots is VLC and even that crashes sometimes.

Yes. It's really quite different from Eva once it gets going, and it does everything better.
Fooly Cooly and Cowboy Bebop are a close second and third.

Evangelion - So many layers, and a beutifully done peice. This could be one of THE MOST ARTISTIC works I have ever seen - period. It is THAT good - if you have the brain and interest to disect it.

Well known Cartoon Network (old 90s stuff). But it's ok, that's what most famous in the U.S. But damn, there are WAY more better anime than those:D

I'll vote for DBZ.

Other: GetBackers, Saiyuki, Magical Play, Happy Lesson, Maburaho, Misaki, E's Otherwise, Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu, King Jing, and Naruto.

Twilight Edge

I haven't seen all that much, but from what I have seen, Cowboy Bebop. It's, you know, pretty good. I usually like stuff where there's more of a connection between episodes, but this is the exception.

All time favorite is Sailor Moon. I do want to rewatch Eva, but I am too lazy to dig through my stacks of unlabelled CDs to find it...
