As generic and boring or soppy as it is, "I love you."

I don't really know, may have to go with the generic I love you thing ;p

Yeah, probably the whole "I love you" kind of thing when someone tells you they love you or something.

Everything stopped and I just heard myself say "What?" in my head

It was the nicest and only thing she ever said to me.

"Nice" doesn't seem to describe "I love you" very well. Or anything that means something. But whatever I won't be picky and play along.

Being called a good friend, or a good shoulder to cry on, was a nice thing to hear.

Yeah I've got better than that but I ain't sharin'.

It's hard to say. There's the default "I love you", which people seem to think actually means something. I usually ignore the people who try to flatter me anyway, so meh.

Outside of the obvious repeated one in this thread?

"You make me laugh", "You make me smile", stuff like that. I get a lot of happiness in making other people happy. And being told that you're funny is possibly one of the biggest compliments you can get, because there are few things more important when it comes to friendships and relationships than the ability to make the other person laugh.

lol, This is long as crap, but i happened to have it laying around. One of my teachers wrote a recommendation letter for my eagle application, and i felt like i was the son of god after i read it... I was fairly shocked to, i was a pain in his ass and never did reports or homework...

"LT Travels through life with a unique perspective which i find refreshing. As a junior enrolled in my physics class, and as a senior enrolled in my AP physics class, I have found him to be highly creative and interesting to engage in conversation. LT is a self starter who is extremely mature and level-headed.

He easily forms opinions and is articulate in expressing them, whether we are discussing a given school policy or more global topics. at the same time, LT listens carefully to all that is said, weighing it carefully and merging what he finds useful into his own ideas.

While always striving to be an individual, LT is a good team player. He never imposes himself or his ideas on the group. LT was not challenged in Physics I, and he has easily become a star in the Advanced Placement course. He has emerged as a leader in cooperative groups, yet accepts assistance from, and works well with, other and myself on those occasions when he needs it. as a strong problem solver, he is not so much interested in "getting the grade" as he is with understanding the material.

LT is a natural problem solver. He has demonstrated a remarkable ability to think problems through to solutions, whether familiar or in an entirely new context. Last year, he liked to work his way backwards in assignments, starting at the end where the hardest problems were located. his ability to do so again this year, and deal with much more complicated problems, has been impressive.

LT is one of the top students in one of the sharpest classes I have taught in 27 years, including many classes with the "gifted" label. He is not a memorizer, he is a thinker. He thrives on studies which involve higher level thinking skills. I regularly use old AP test questions on my tests and quizzes. Time and time again, LT demonstrates an ability to apply what he has learned to new and different situations. He has the natural attributes of a scientist: creativity and perserverance. I enthusiastically recommend him to you for both academic and personal promise."

If that doesn't boost your ego a bit, i don't know what will. This also came from a man who's class i slept through, excepting tests and quizzes, for 6 months, and whom i affectionately wrote "Mr. Smith Walks Like Big Bird" to on the blackboard of his class before each block, for two years solid. (he did walk like big bird. it was scary.)

Hmm...

At school, I was told I had the biggest GPA% improvement and I gained $20 for doing so. Hmph, and all I did was go from an abyssmal 2.226 to a much better % of 3.649. I can be smrat(sic) when I want to be!

This girl I used to have a crush on has one on me, but now that she's taken, all she can tell me is "I would love you, but as you know I'm not allowed to." Also from the same girl, "You're cute."

Nothing else comes to mind, except "You're really good" one time after thwomping someone at Soulcalibur II in a local mall.

Other than the rare compliment on my looks which makes me all warm and fuzzy inside, any praise I get for my writing. I had one of my college professors last semester tell me that she couldn't wait to see my name on a shelf at Barnes and Nobles, and I couldn't get the smile off my face all day. It really meant a lot to me.
