I never bothered getting Excalibur 2. I'd much rather play the game and enjoy it than race through it for one item that you don't even need.
Ultima Weapon was easy enough though.

Skipping most of the sidequest just for one item? Please, I rather enjoy those ATE, FMV and sidequest. It's not worth it, the abilities can be learn by different weapon, the attack, Steiner's Ragnarok can already do 9999 damage for me.

Ultima Weapon is easy to get. (Love those Ultima name!)

I haven't gotten either of them. Excalibur II for obvious reasons; and I don't feel like doing the Chocobo minigame. (And yes, the rewards kick ass. But I just don't have time for all of it. <<; )

I got the Ultima Weapon, but not Excalibur II. I tried but was already at 12 Hours at Oeilvert.

Excalibur 2 is the only weapon I've never been able to retrieve. I don't think it's worth rushing through the game just to get it. I'd rather settle for less, and enjoy the game.

I got the Ultima Weapon relatively quickly, but I really couldn't be bothered to go for the Excalibur II. It would have probably taken the fun out of the game, for me, anyway.

i guess nobody has lol i have not eather and like everone elese has said i drather enjoy all the story and all thoses thousand more items then just that one sword lol and i never tried to get the ultima weapon.

Finish the "Chocobo Hot&Cold" games, and find all the tressures first so your Chocobo would change into the gold chocobo first or at least a red chocobo(think red chocobo can do it). Then you go the place where the "Shimmering Island" was(After it went BOOM), then you use a "Dead Pepper" to search under the sea for the tressure, which contains the Ultima Weapon.

And I do have Ultima Weapon(I got it without knowing really), but nuu...I don't have Excalibur II because I don't like rushing games, unless maybe it has new skill that other weapons don't have...

I got everything! Because once when I played I used the walkthrough to get EVERYTHING! I did with quite a lot games!

Getting the Excalibur II is not quite as difficult as everyone makes it out to be. There are people that have obtained it with two hours to spare. There are even people who have obtained it and every other item in the game, making for a perfect game. All I have to say is that getting the Excalibur II was easier than getting the King of Jump Rope.

You know something's not worth getting when the guys who write the FAQ for it insist it can only be done by force-ejecting your PSX disc in order to skip the FMV sequences.

You will get Dead Pepper eventually.

Red Chocobo can't cross sea so you can't get Ultima Weapon with it, you need to have at least Black Chocobo (I'm sorry if I'm wrong).

You don't have Black Chocobo in IX...Black Chocobo is in VII, and nuu...Red Chocobo can cross the ocean, just that it cannot fly like the Gold Chocobo in IX.

I think after you change your Chocobo into some other others like blue or whatever...you start to get Dead Pepper.

As soon as you get the red mountain Chocobo, you can get Dead Peppers.

You can get Dead Peppers as the red chcobo, but you need the dark blue right after the red chocobo to get the ultima weapon. You also need the Terra to blow up.

Ultima weapon is surprisingly easy to get compared to some of the other FF ultimate weapons (Caladbolg, Onion Knight etc...)

Excalibur II is not worth getting considering all the things you miss out on. But supposedly you could keep two seperate save files, one for the normal game and the other file for obtaining Excalibur II... just to show how incredibly good you are. :D

I tried doing it once, but I realised I was just playing for beating against the clock and the enjoyment of playing the game was no longer there.
