im on this boss right now. ive only fought him once and it was going fine until bartz was koed, reina was stoned and krile and faris were beserked. i wanted to know which part of the body does which attacks. i think the first one does physical attacks like vac wave. the one behind it does the ultra gust attack. the third one does grand cross and the 4th one does magic. am i right and how would you suggest i beat this guy? i have a dragoon. a WM/TM. a knight with 2-hands and brave blade and a BM/summoner. i use golem a lot and everyones on level 39. what order should i beat the parts?

I'd suggest (these are what I usually do) one of two things.

Make everyone Bare. Equip Ribbons, Angel Rings, and the other best equipment. Combine your mastered abilities to be effective.

Or

Make everyone Mime. Mime Fuuma Shurikens.

Or, in your case, cast Shell (or Big Guard if you have it.) on everyone when you fight X-Death's first form, as it'll carry over to the Neo fight. (Cuts down on Almagest and his other spells.) Use Golem to intercept physical attacks. (Reapply as necessary.) Your levels are perfectly acceptable for the end-game. I'd really suggest at least putting a Mime in there or something, and maybe someone with Throw. If you can't do that, then I suppose Bahamut/Jumping/Holy is a good offensive tactic.

I don't see any reason to beat them in a certain order, the last part will always go berserk with Meteor anyway.

thanks. seems as i dont have ribbons ill take out the part that casts grand cross first. ill use shells in the first battle so im protected in the second. is the third part the one the use grand cross or is that the one at the back?

thanks for the help. ill try him again soon when i find out which part does what. my main problem is grand cross. i know which part does ultra gust and i know how do deflect most of the damage so thats not a big problem. BTW. how powerful is neo X-deaths meteo?

If your having trouble then do it the easy way. Cast bahamut twice with redx2 then mime it repeatedly. That way, killing one means killing them all.... more or less. The best method by far is to combine redx2 with time magic and summon a nifty 5 bahamuts in a row :D

The last segment does indeed go beserk with Meteo as well as following each meteo with two vacwaves. Thats when he's at his hardest. Blink will protect from the vacwaves and shell is recomended for the meteos.

No ribbons eh? o_0 well i'd still recomend using Bare class fighters as they have a few default abilities. For example 2-swords doesn't need to be equipped if you have mastered ninja, and if you have mastered sorcerer then your bare will cast shell when they reach low HP.

If your going to use "Throw" then indeed throw magishurikens, but you can also throw any weapons you dont need anymore. Excalipur, excalibur, ragnarok, braveblade, masamune etc throw them all :)

you can steal all the ribbons you like from some of the enemies in the phoenix tower! (the dancing girl ones)

I beat him last night using jump with double spears:] took a while, but no one died.

my strategy is as follows. i destroy the part of him that casts grand cross ( i think thats the third one along the line.) then i destroy the one behind the front one to eliminate the ultragust attack. then ill repeatedly cast bahamut on the last two and destroy them at the same time so it doesnt go crazy and start doing tons of meteos and vac waves. wish me luck. im going to try this strategy right now.
EDIT: i tried but got confused ith which bit does what. im going to look online for something that will tell me which part does grand cross and which does ultragust. if anyone here knows of a site or knows which bit does what, please help me.
