Let's guess! (Unless it's been announced.)

I'd really like to see a Pictomancer.

A couple possibilities....

Darknight and Paladin (They come in a two for one deal usually)

Gambler

Engineer (though seeing Cid/Mid as a PC/Summon would be even better)

Pirate, arrrgh! (I'm hoping for this one)

Thats all I got

A Gambler would kick ass as well.

how about a green mage like in XII?

I'm seriously hoping for a Pirate, because then I could finally actually be a Pirate Red Mage.

Odds are it'll be a class that means that they won't add any more weapons/armors for (or specialized armor that only a certain class can wear, like ribbons and red shoes), so probably no gunners.

And I can envision them taking off some of the more useless abilities from a couple other classes to fit the new ones.

I would see them adding a Dark Knight before a Paladin, because the ability to cast white magic is sorta dumb in ff5 when you could have that anyways, and Knights already have the Cover ability etc etc etc

That or some gambling based job seem most likely.

archer maybe?

Zeromus_X

Archer was a class, sometimes translated as 'Ranger'. :cat:

The correct translation is Hunter. But they dress in green and are all about bows so they may as well be called archers. Same deal as in FFIII.

archer maybe?

That already exists as a Hunter

We used to have a member named Green Mage but I guess he changed his name or got pruned or something.

Calculator, maybe. Although it would be tough to make it as cool as in tactics.

All the status spells are already split up between White/Black/Time already, so having a Green Magic skill would be awkward...

but on FF6, it's known as Grey Magic

Not that I know because FFV's down there with VIII for FF's I don't really like. But isn't time mage a job? Does this green mage really count as one of them? o o;

Doctor job anyone? lol

On FFVI, magic is split between Recovery magic (white dot), Offensive magic (black dot), and Supportive magic (grey dot).

It does, that's why having a Green Mage would be redundant. (FFXII will have Green Magic which is kinda like Oracle, status magics and stuff.)

I'm really not sure why they are bothering adding new classes; half of them were useless anyway. But if I had to speculate, I would expect to see a Dark Knight before anything else.

Zeromus_X

Well they have to add some things into it, I suppose. A new job would be perfect for the game. I'd agree that it seems uneccessary, however...

I'm looking forward to a whole new dungeon. Something with harder enemies and another super boss at the end

Zeromus_X
07-05-2006, 08:23 PM
Oh, I wouldn't even doubt the possibility of that. Although I found Shinryuu/Omega plenty tough enough...xD

I wonder if it could beat the Void in the cool surrealness factor? It doesn't get much better than a surreal outer space dungeon with random extensions from other maps, does it? :cat:

True.. best dungeon ever :D

Omega and shinryu are tough till you suss them out... the job system allowes for supreme strategies where you could potentially defeat things twice as hard as omega and shinryu  id like an oppertunity to prove it :D

The new class will be waiter, and your character will wear a Kefka outfit. /win

Maybe they will be like FFXI and add Corsair (pirate) or Puppetmaster as new jobs.

I know, I mean, it would be a little hard to make the job look, especially for a 2d game.

Another problem with a gunner is it would require a whole new set of weapons as well as the job itself. Let's face it, Square-Enix isn't THAT nice to us.

As a throw back to FFIII which will have Onion Knight as a job class in it in the new version, I can see Onion Knight

What do you mean, they've added tons of new equipment to FFI DoS and FFIV:A, and also some stuff to FFII DoS. If they are making a new job, that means new skills, so new weapons aren't out of the question at all.

Lilliputian Hitcher
07-08-2006, 05:14 PM
As far as I know (it was at least this way for FFIV:A), the equipment added in those games where upgrades of weapon types previously seen within the game. This would be an entirely new weapon class that would require an entirely new form of battle animation. Perhaps not a great difference, but enough that I could see Square taking an easier route.

Zeromus_X
07-08-2006, 06:49 PM
Yeah, I agree.

Hm...the problem with this is the all the jobs fit into another job that does the same basic thing somewhere. (Except Gambler and Calculator, but I doubt they'll use those anyway.) Really wracking my brain thinking of what they'll possibly use.

Oh well...at least that'll make it more of a surprise!

What about a suprise no one would suspect. You could get a job or be unemployed.

I would want to see an Archer that perhaps has focus over pure archery rather then Druidic type spells.
