Carob Nuts can be stolen and won from Vladorakos (red dinosaur creature) near Bone Village, or you can choose the first ??????? prize (the one that costs 500 GP) at the Wonder Square in the Gold Saucer.

That dinosaur has 33333HP.But you'll beat the crap out of him in no time.I usually mug rather than win,at least you can confirm that you got a nut.

Not played in a while but i think you can trade gp for a carob nut in wonder square.

Also, there is a peninsula norht of Bone Village (I may have had the same problem of not being able to get into a single battle outside of Bone Village) and on that peninsula are only three enemies, including Vlakarados. Just steasl it and run. You'll have enough time to get as many as necessary.

I got it!! and yuh i found him on the peninsula north of bone village.
Ritte around bone village in tha trees nuffin wood attack me!!
But i see wen they sed the grassy area round bone village dey ment the GRASS!
Not the trees.
