I'm trying to rip footage off my AC DVD, but I don't know how. My comp has a DVD writer, and I think it has a ripper, but I don't know what to do.

You can use DVD Decrypter to decrypt and copy MPEG2 video to your hard drive. Then, if you have an MPEG2 codec installed, you can open the video into your favorite video editor and edit all you want. If you don't have an MPEG2 codec installed, you can convert the DVD video files to AVI using a decoding tool like DGMPGDec or Xmpeg.

Check out the download section of http://www.doom9.org/ for DVD Decrypter as well as other useful DVD tools.

Both should be available at the doom9 site. :)

Download WinAvi, it is free for 30 days. It converts VOB to wmv, AVI and other formats you can play on Windows Media Player and edit on Windows Movie Maker. Make sure you only use the footage for yourself! AC is a brand new release and Square is bound to be watching it very closely.

If you end up liking ripping videos, WinAvi is only $30 so you can have it past 30 days without having to sell the Playstation ;)

Could be copy protection. Check what else is running on your computer. What's your computer specs anyway?

According to my computer the size of the advent children file is 7GB which could have upset the system. I'm gonna try and sort out the footage this weekend.
Does anyone know any compression programmes? I have windows movie maker and I don't think I'm allowed to get a better movie editor.

If you don't have windows XP or windows 2000 (or something with the NTFS filesystem), you cannot save and use files over 2GB.

that's not the problem.... I've decided to chop it up into ten minutes clips and compress them seperatly... combine them later

EDIT: This worked... thanks.

As a sidenote, you can convert your filesystem on XP or 2000 to NTFS by typing "convert [drive letter]: /fs:ntfs" at the command prompt, where [drive letter] is the letter of the drive or partition you want to convert.
