Ok, I know many of you are probably very tired of all of the Smash Bros. threads around here, but I'm hoping that this one will be used to keep track of what's going on with Brawl. What we know:
Confirmed Characters
Pit (new)
Snake (new)
Wario (new)
Zero-Suit Samus (new)
Meta-Knight (new)
Mario
Kirby
Pikachu
Link
It will be released in 2007, so it's not a launch game.
A Nintendog is a possible item.
Pit has two swords that turn into a bow and arrow.
Snake will fight with explosives, and probably a cardboard box. He will not have his guns, or his survival knife.
Wario farts.
It will be FULLY COMPATIBLE with the Game Cube controller.
Miyamoto said to expect a robust single player mode.
There will be a Metal Gear level. One screenshot seems to depict Snake sneaking up behind Link inside the base on Shadow Moses. Expect Metal Gear music, too.
Zero Suit Samus isn't a totally new character, but rather a transformed Samus. Think Shiek. She has a gun and an energy whip. She's weaker than regular Samus, but faster.
Sakurai has stated that only using popular characters doesn't get him excited, so expect more obscure characters like Ice Climbers.
There might be little easter eggs that use the Wiimote.
Meta-Knight has a rock version of the Kirby theme.
They're shooting for an E 10+ rating, not a T.
Rumours
Ice Climbers, Game & Watch, and Young Link will be removed from the game.
Koopa Kid, Ridley, and Wind Waker Link will be playable.
The clone characters will be reworked.
There will be between 30 and 40 characters.
Finally, this is not gameplay footage. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmcOn8j6Y-w)
I'll update this as the game get's closer.
UPDATE: Samurai has stated that he will not be updating the website for a while. So much for new info. >_>
I'm sorry to say that I have to temporarily stop updating this website as of June, 2006.
When Super Smash Bros. Brawl is completed sometime in 2007, I plan to post more information for you. For right now, though, I need to focus on the development of the actual game.
Of course, if anything newsworthy comes up, I may decide to post some special notices...
Meanwhile, though, I'll just do my best to complete the game.
Masahiro Sakurai
We need a spy. I shall disguise myself as a bonsai tree on his desk and gather intel. He will never know the difference. Off I go.
