Who needs a bass? I have always had a soft spot in my heart for that little Hawaiian instrument, the ukelele. Unfortunately, it is often viewed (myself included) as a very limited instrument that always sounds the same way. Then I saw THIS VIDEO (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9mEKMz2Pvo&search=Jake%20Shimabukuro). And was like "wow".

Have you ever heard of a ukelele? What do you think about the ukelele? Do you like it? How about the video?

It is now ukelele time!

A band that used ukelele's for everything, even drums, would be real cool.

There is a video somewhere of a British "Ukelele Orchestra" that plays Nirvana's 'Teen Spirit'. It's not bad until the guy tries to sing.

I don't have any strong feelings about the ukelele, but that Shimabukuro guy is rockin' it!

Bass. Bass crushes all of you. An I speak not only of the powerful electric thud, nor of a nice ranchero style acoustic. The big poppa of them all, the 6 foot towering monolith of soul crushing thud. god bless the bass.

It's depressing that the only person to mention the tenor banjo in this thread (thus far) is Google Ads. And I don't even know if that counts as a person.

Boy, I wasn't even thinking about violins, violas, cellos, etc.! Sorry about that peoples! I wasn't trying to leave you. Just as a ukulele player and a listener of music, the first two 4-stringed intruments to pop in my mind are bass guitar and ukulele. And I didn't think of any more because those instruments are played in a different fashion.
