Does anyone know how to get Garnet's real name? I have a walk-through telling me how, but it was written poorly and is inaccurate.

In beginning of game when baku asks if you capture the queen say yes over 65 times and ruby will run into room amd tell you.

Idk how to get her real name.
Do you mean Change her name, or find out what here real name is?

oh yeah, thats it, you revive Aeris just after Septhiroth kills her with a Pheonix Pinion, then you go and look in a mirror, and repeat "Jack Bauer" three times and he jumps out and tells you that the cheat has been unlocked.
You then turn on your playstation, only to see that Final Fantasy IX isn't there but a different game is,
one which stars Vin Dieseil as the bad-ass macho hero, and none other then, Garnet.
Its at this point that you find out her name.
But heres a spoiler anyway
Its Sara.

Zidane Thank you Void, back on topic. Look for the way on a google search, type "Disc 3 Madain Sari Sidequest" and you should get a good explanation.

Yeah teh people who have marked the spoilers and revealed her real name, are correct. I haven't completed Final Fantasy IX in about 4 years though, so I have totally forget how to get it. I know it has to do with Madain Sari though at the Eidolon Wall.

Zidane: If you walk in a certain direction 9 times in eidolon wall, you hear a sound then read the stuff, I forgot which direction.

Disc 3. Madain Sari. walk clockwise lots reading each summon. You'll hear a sound. Go anti-clockwise lots, reading each summon. Another noise. and repeat a few times. That's how I remember getting it. It's a long story though, but worth it cos the letters are nice.
It doesn't matter that much if you can't do it, because her name is Freddie Mercury Sarah

Bad spelling, but should work:
go to Madain Sari on 3rd cd you will find Lani in the kitchen you won' be able to talk with her when you get close she will run away. moogles will tell you tha she was very tired when they found her.
on 4 cd you will be able to talk with her, but you cant have Dagger/Garnet or Amarant in your team... you will hear her story. Go to Lani with Dagger in your team, Lani will run away... leave Dagger on ship and come back without Dagger or Amarant talk to her twice... when you will talk to her second time she will tel you that she saw some stange signs on the wall in the kitchen, go to the kitchen you will find informations about clock go to Eidolon Wall. Now you can go near the wall and read the signs.... there're about Leviathan and about history of Madain Sari...but if you're really carefull you can find some others too. When you eter EW go to the rigt near theentrance you should hear bell ringing.... now go left mear etance you will hear bell ringing... do it nine times you will see the ultimate thing (HP/MP Restored)... now some other signs will appear on the wall... read everything and now on the center of the wall will appear last sign with Dagger's real name it was leaved by daggers father..... Dagger's real name is Sarah <lol why did i wrote this

If one walkthrough fails, move onto the next. Sometimes you have to browse through two or three walkthroughs to get the level of instruction you need/desire.

Why is she called Garnet in the 1st place (I cant replay my game anymore because the 1st disk keeps freezing :( )? Was she renamed or something?

Yeah, you'll find it eventually. I know I looked in one of the faqs there regarding that. You have to set up your party a certain way, do the thing with the wall, etc.
Makes me wonder how anyone'd discover this without a guide.

How to do it:
1) Be on Disc 4 and enter Madain Sari without Garnet or Amarant in the party. Lani, who usually runs away if said two are in the party, will stay and you can talk to her. On the second time, she'll mention that she saw some strange writing on the Eidolon Wall that might interest Garnet.
2) So, how does one find out about the walking around part? In the room by Lani, one can find an inscription that talks about the pattern which, if you can't decipher on first glance, goes likes so: enter the Eidolon Wall, head left until you come to the entrance and heard a 'ping'; then, walk back the opposite way until you come to the entrance and hear another 'ping'. Repeat until you get a message that your HP/MP has been refilled (9th time). On the tenth time, new writing will be available.
3) The new writing will tell about Garnet's past, her name, and the wishes of her surviving family member (I think. Haven't played in awhile).
