I just wandered onto the FFIV memories thread, and I didn't know if there was one for FFVI, if there is you can close it.
I got FFVI when it was FF3 on the SNES, about a month after it had came out and I was 8 years old, and I vividly remember sneaking upstairs where my little 'play area' was to play FF3. I ended up playing before school too, once we moved the SNES downstairs into the living room. Also a funny story of an 8 year old, I had one of those knockoff versions of a 'talk-boy' but it was pink and called a 'Talk-girl' and I would record the songs from the game, when I started doing this, when I got to the Cave before you go to South Figaro, I talked into the Mike and said "I'm going to turn the music down because this song is scarry." and I turned the music down, let the talk girl run, recording silence and once I got out of the cave I picked it up and went "Okay... Now we can record again." I -still- have that tape.
Do you guys have any good memories like that? Hopefully they don't involve a talk-girl but hey who knows. n n;;

I first played with my brothers, and we argued about renaming characters as we went along. We renamed Locke as Kurt, my brother. We can along to naming Sabin and I wanted to change his name, he didn't, we accidently added and A, making it Sabina, so for a very long time I referred to him as such. We later named Cyan, Kyle, my real name, and he ended up being my favorite character, purely by coincedence

I remember not being able to tell if Gau was a boy or a girl
I download FFVI ROMS two months ago.
I think Terra and Celes gender is male while Locke is a girl.

I rented FFIII and played it for the first time when I had a tooth pulled and was holed-up all weekend with it. I made it to the WoR and had to return my game. :(
Luckily I received it for Christmas that year and have spent too much time playing it. I do remember that either I would cart my SNES to his house or he would cart his SNES to my house, we'd get an extra TV and spend the weekend racing to see who could beat the game first from a clean start Friday afternoon.

Whose house?
I first played it with my cousin when I was 9. I was spending the night at his house, and the entire time we just... played it. I thought it was amazing. It was fun to watch, too.

I loved Banon during my first playthrough, it was such a luxury to use a free cure-all command without wasting MP or anything. :D
I also remember disliking Locke at first, because his sprite wasn't as colorful as those of Edgar, Sabin and Terra. :p

I remember being 12 years old playing the game. Before the world of Ruin i leveled up my characters to 35+ on that stupid floating continent only to not wait for shadow when the world was in chaos (didn't know it at the time) and being very pissed off that i had to start all over again to gain shadow in my group in the world of ruin! >=0

When I was little I didn't like Locke because I had Short Term memory and I kept thinking that the password was 'Rosebud' instead of 'Courage'.
But once I got Celes I thought he was cool. Went from "ARGH I'M TIRED OF YOU" to "Omg! That's so cute! I like him now"

Actually, Locke is one of my favourite chars, because he's got the wonderful Steal/Capture command. :D

Every time I play FF VI, it reminds me of the time when I bought the used SNES version(known as FF III at the time) at KMart back in 1998. I was curious at the time because I played FF IV(known as II back in the day)and I found that enjoyable so I thought maybe VI would be enjoyable as well. It's the 2nd FF game I've ever played back then, but till this day, it's my #1 favorite.:)

I almost have this idea in my head that if you played the SNES version of FFVI you can appreciate it more, I played it when it was on the SNES, like a said a month after it came out, and it's been my favorite FF since I was 8. xD 12 years.

The original cartidges are the best! :)
I'm so bad about it I bought a second copy of FFI from a pawn shop so I could have two concurrent quests going and I bought FFIV - VI and a Super Famicom when I was in Japan just to have them.

I think I cried when I was little when they showed the whole Locke/Rachel thing if you had locke in your party when your on you way to -ZOZO- =D. And then I actually -just- noticed this, but when I was replaying, and I had Edgar and Sabin in my party it showed what went on with them, and I got all teary eye'd too. :greenie:

I remember playing it after playing FFVII to IX, and laughing my arse off at the graphics and sound, especially afterseeing bolt beam and so on, and hearing the wierd FFVI battle theme.
I got over it very fast though, and went to town with it.
I had kinda forgotten what 16 bit graphics were like, despite growing up with SEGA consoles

I remember my brother saving over my only file where I was on Kefka's tower after I beat the first statue thing.
I always feel sad when the game's memory resets itself.
Oh, when my brother was ordering it over the phone, I was pretty young so I kept pressing the redial button until he told me to stop about five times.

I remember it took me a few years to beat this. For some reason my memory kept getting wiped. Sudden jerks to the system while it was playing, I glitched it a few times by misake wiping my data. I lost if for a while. I think my cartrage was a little faulty though since thats the only game it did it with. I got it because I'd rented it from the video shop in my area so much that just sold it to my mom so I could get it as a christmans present. Good times.

I remember watching my big brother play it and whenever one of the characters would nod, I thought it was cool...until they did it again...and again...and again...and again...and again......................>.> After that I'd freak out any time one of the characters would nod. I still do as I play the ROM on my computer.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWW.
My favourite memory of FFVI is the FreyaxCeles love scene...oops, that's just a twisted fantasy involving the two best characters of all time >.>
My real favourite memory is the end, I didn't regain Locke and Celes did her whole bandana grab. I was so sad, but it was also so nice. :)

I remember downloading the ending-music as a MIDI like 1997. Loved it humongously. I don't think I played the game itself until 2002 or so, though. I could be wrong. Either way, I totally loved the intro-music, loved a WHOLE LOT of the music. I also remember being a bit annoyed at how the characters apparently had to move along a grid - I AM familiar with that from Shining Force, but it felt like FF6 used larger grids.
Using 7/8-bars in Another world of Beasts made me fall in love with that track for all eternity. :D

The soundtracks for FFVI is just awesome. No FF game can beat the VI Soundtrack! I dont think any game can beat the VI Soundtrack tbh :)

You two speak the truth. I had my knock-off soundtrack I was trying to make with my talk girl. xD At one point later on in life I ended up recording the midi's. I remember recording Relms theme. XD I have them both on Cassette!

I was 12 when it came out, I saw the goddes statues boobies and nearly freaked out. I felt ashamed until I hit puberty, then I was alright by it!
But yeah, fun times. I was pissed cause I had a gotten me a Genesis like a week befre the game was slated to come out, but it all worked out. I found Shining Force and Phantasy Star as well. I used to trade systems with my friends so I could play my copy of FFIII. :D

I remember playing it after FFIV because I could never beat Zeromus. So I played this one (thinking they were in an order or something) somewhat relunctantly, but then I just got totally absorbed in it. I remember playing it as often as I could, and discovering all the secrets and side quests in the game was a really fulfilling experience. (As a kid, mind you.) Needless to say, the final battles were truly haunting, especially because I totally didn't get the religious allusions.
It's definitely on my higher ranks of FF favorites. :cat:
