If this is non-American football, then I have solid proof that not everyone cares about it. And the proof is called the USA.

Stupid world cup is on. :eep:
Scotland's out, and everybody's pissed. I just hope England loses soon so everyone will shutup. All these stupid adverts are making me cry.

It's funny. There's so many adverts amking use of the whole thing. Saying they support England, and always going on about it. England England England. And, just near me, there's one little Mars Bar sign with a Scottish flag, and '2010' written on it. Pssh.

Sports in general are overhyped.

I only hate soccer because it takes up all the TV-time. All the matches are shown, so they cancel all the programs they usually send. :(

Yeah, not everybody likes football. And good for them, so long as they don't keep trying to ruin the fun for those of us who do. :)

Personally, I'm not much fond of football (football, where you actually use your feet). When I do watch it, I try to look at it from a tactical-strategic point of view... but you need good games to notice that sort of thing. Otherwise, it's nice to watch good players play the game the way it's meant to be played, whatever way that is.

Also, I like all the hype and attention the World Cup is receiving. I think it's nice, for once, to see people from all over the world gathering to do something which isn't violent. That's why I like the Olympic Games as well.

I don't understand why people get so violent after a match - not labelling everyone of course, but, what's with the hooligans? A football match is supposed to be about fun, you don't really want violence at the end of a match.

I love and hate football. Its werid. My family are die hard footie fans and I use to be ahuge Man U supporter when I was younger, then I dipped out and come back due to the world cup.

Its just the way some fans are, its been this way for donkey years. Rivial clubs or firms love having a good fight agaisnt each other to support their team and show their masculinity (sp). Yeah it can ruin football, but its just the way it goes.

soccer(football) is an OK sport............it's pathetic in a lot of ways too, scoring once every 500 billion hours is pathetic to me, and not only that but the referees are the worst I've seen in ANY sport.

football(american) is even WORSE than soccer, bunch of guys HOPELESSLY running and punching each other to the ground (LOTS OF INJURIES). It's like a sport fo animals, I also hate:

-strong(fat guys) have a crappy role in this sport
-short(skinny guys) can't really enjoy this sport either

You have to qualify into the tall/strong category to even have a chance in this sport.

You really don't, I played football and I'm no where huge and strong. And I was one of the bigger kids.

You have to qualify into the tall/strong category to even have a chance in [American Football].

Kicker/Punter
Free/Strong Safety (yeah you need it, but not to a great degree)
Wideout (it can't hurt to be)
Running Back (it can't hurt to be)
Kick/Punt Receiver
Tight End (by a technicality, but this does require strength)

None of these positions need you to be strong or huge.
You need to be fast, agile, and have excellent hand control/grip.

Kicker/Punter needs great leg strength and accuracy. David Akers and Adam Vinateri are tiny, miniscule, strings of bone compared to the other positions.

And really for any of the other offensive line positions, as long as you can keep the opponent's defensive players away from the QB, you'll be fine. For Defense, if you can GET to the QB, you'll be fine. This just happens to require strength in most cases.

you mean bigger as in chubby??? or bigger as in taller?

Anyway, you're chubby or tall, you have a chance in that sport. But if you're a short skinny guy, you have NO CHANCE.

I'm talking more in a semi-professional/professional environment.

Semi-Professional?
Umm, there's professional, and non-professional.

The only difference is whether you get paid or not.
Not skill. (although it does play a role in who gets paid; you DO need the best, but you won't always get it)

But I agree 100% with you, baseball beats football in EVERY way(well except the replays thingy).

True. But people can have opinions. It's what makes people kill each other because the Redskins suck and the Eagles don't. Well, except the whole T.O. fiasco. Let us not talk about it.

Ohh God, don't get get me started on Baseball. It may be one of the best sports to play (and hugely fun), but its SO PAINFUL TO WATCH. Ohh, the things I could count wrong with Baseball's publicity system.

If every other country in the world had as many other options as the US does in sport-watching, they wouldn't care about soccer, either.

Well of course there are plenty of people that don't like football. 1.1 billion people watched the last World Cup final, which means that there are roughly 5 billion who didn't. I don't understand why you care if he enjoys it anyway, does he complain about everything you like, and try to say that it sucks? If so, then I suppose you're justified.

And, just near me, there's one little Mars Bar sign with a Scottish flag, and '2010' written on it. Pssh.In the one or two World Cups where Scotland qualified and England didn't, it was exactly the same in favour of Scotland, so there you go.

No kidding. Baseball has got to be the most boring sport to watch yet the easiest and most fun to pick up and play.

I dunno that much about soccerfootball, but despite what people may say about it, I can't forsee it being more painfully boring to watch than baseball is.

When you have wack teams like the A's/Angels/Giants/Dodgers/and the Padres, IT IS BORING AS HELL.

When you live in the east coast with teams like the Braves/Yankees/Red Sox/Mets/Marlins, IT IS FUN AS HELL.

I cannot stand watching baseball. Going to a game live is no better.

American Football, however is fun as <img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif">.
And as I've recently discovered, Basketball rocks the <img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"> out of everything live.

I myself am a fan of Boston/NYC rivalries. We as a people are sentimental tear jerkers, and as such, we always like it when the under-dogs win.

That's why everyone hates the Yankees.

Soccer's not as bad as baseball, but that's not saying a whole lot in its favor.

However, Football and Basketball rock da house!

I don't like how it's low scoring, and that basically every athelete on the field is of the same type. Same reason I don't like hockey, but at least hockey has cool things like ice and sticks involved.
