Higlighted the ones Ive seen, so go for those. Ive heard of most of the others but havent got round to watching them. Add Jaws and Mississippi Burning to the list. Those 2 are beyond classic!

78. The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
84. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)
99. To Kill a Mockingbird (1962)

Those are my picks. And don't watch Rocky V unless you want to cry. Or laugh. Whichever you do when a franchise is ruined.

Your list sucks. There are a lot of good movies on there (Glory is fantastic, for example), but there aren't any fun movies. Most of those movies are legitmately good films, but a lot of them aren't very exciting. They're just dramas. So I've made a list of all the really cool movies you should see.

Watch Transformers The Movie, American Psycho, The Life Aquatic, Tron, I <3 Huckabees, Sky High, Snatch, Layer Cake (don't watch the alternate endings...technically speaking, a lot of people like them more than the regular one, but those people don't know anything about anything), Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrells, Equilibrium, The Way of the Gun...um...you should probably watch American Psycho again just in case...oh, The Thing, Escape from L.A. and...um...Princess Mononoke. That should keep you busy for a while.

You can thank me later. Some of these are legitmately good, while others are just bad ass. I think you'll be able to tell which ones are which when you watch them. Also keep in mind that up until a few weeks ago, I worked in a video store so that means I know literally every little thing about movies no matter how obscure and just generally speaking have better taste than everyone. At least that's what customers were always lead to believe, anyway.

No, his list doesn't suck. Just because something's drama doesn't mean it's not a good movie. I like dramas, they tend to have better plots than movies with constant action. So according to you, he should watch Transformers the Movie and Sky High instead of the other stuff on here? Surely you jest sir, surely you jest.

QFT. IMO your list sucks cause it movies that have been done in the last 7 years and are violent movies. Not everyone likes violent movies and the oldies are always better. Thank you later? I dont think so.

No, your list sucks because you think dramas aren't exciting (false), working in a video store does not qualify good taste, and because you apparently don't like anything aside from action films.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, by the way.

These are the ones I've seen and remember. I'll tell you the ones that I highly recommend and why.

2. Ray (2004)-Jamie Fox's potrayal of Ray Charles was brilliant. If you've seen another biography movie (such as Walk the Line) then you'll like this.
3. The Karate Kid (1984)-Good fight movie. Mr. Miyagi was the best character in my opinion. "Wax on wax off."
8. A Beautiful Mind (2001)-Fantastic movie...it was really moving. Yes, it's a love story but it also has an interesting twist that can be a shocker. All the actors in this movie were at the top of their game.
9. Fame (1980)
11. Hotel Rwanda (2004)-One of the best movies on the Rwanda genocide I've seen. And I've seen quite a few.
16. What's Love Got to Do With It (1993)-Tina Turner's story is extremely interesting.
21. Babe (1995)
23. Thelma and Louise (1991)
24. Driving Miss Daisy (1989)
36. A Raisin in the Sun (1961)-Amazing movie. It deals with all sorts of things during this era. And also has a good motto. Not to mention Sidney Poitier is a great actor.
39. Braveheart (1995)-What I expect from a Mel Gibson movie. Extreme gore and violence. But I gotta admit this movie is pretty rememborable.
42. Dances with Wolves (1990)
49. Dead Poets Society (1989)
50. The Color Purple (1985)-Oprah's character ruled! This movie makes me what to go read the book and see the play.
51. Seabiscuit (2003)I love the ending of this movie. Horses rule!
60. The Sound of Music (1965)
64. Forrest Gump (1994)-Very qutoable movie. It's not popular for nothing. It's a great story and a great main character. Tom Hanks is at his best.
70. Glory (1989)-Denzel Washington's one tear only was enough to do me in. I usually don't like war movies, but this was pretty good.
73. Field of Dreams (1989)-"If you build it they will come."
75. The Wizard of Oz (1939)-"I'll get you my pretty and your little dog too!"
78. The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
[B]81. Philadelphia (1993)-Sad movie, although Tom Hanks plays characters so well. It's about AIDS so brace yourself. You may need a tissue.
88. Hoosiers (1986)-Funny movie.
91. Saving Private Ryan (1998)
95. E.T.(1982)-I love this movie.
97. Rocky (1976)-Nice movie. Not the best boxing movie out there.
100. It's a Wonderful Life(1946)-Great story. No wonder it's on t.v. every Christmas.
103. Rocky II (1979)
105. Rocky IV (1985)
107. Pokémon: The First Movie (1999)
108. Pokémon: The Movie 2000 (2000)

I don't think you all understand. Dramas are good. Almost all of those movies are legitmately good. My list is full of movies that are awesome. Probably too awesome for you, as a matter of fact. So yeah, maybe you should stay away. I don't think you can handle it.

Also, I realize that working in a video store doesn't mean I have good taste, but that's what customers always assumed. I'd recommend something to someone, they'd watch it, and then they'd give me because they didn't like it. I was making a joke, but admittedly for my own amusement (which is my motivation for doing anything about 99.8% of the time).

And lastly, not all of those movies are action films. I also forgot some on the list: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Adaptation, Casablanca, Sidekicks, The Wizard, Robin Hood Men in Tights, Blazing Saddles, The Producers (the Gene Wilder/Zero Mostel one, not the remake), Tron, Tron, Tron, and Tron. Oh, and Tron is another good one. You might want to check that out.

Oh, and Wasabi. Easily the best Jean Reno movie ever. Oh geez, I forgot the Fifth Element too.

if you watch blazing saddles, you have to watch the good the bad and the ugly, just because you have to. a fake western commands a real one.

Fifth Element

Oh, and I just saw The Princess Bride last night--*highly* recommended if you haven't already watched it. I haven't seen a movie that made me smile that much in a while. Its such a flat humor, you can't even tell when the movie is joking and when its serious. ^.^

I also recommend Heathers, Fight Club (if you can stomach minor gore, there's an honestly deep plot there), and Donnie Darko (original, not the Director's Cut, please :eep:).

Oh, and don't forget about Pirates of the Caribbean 2 on July 7

.....unless of course you hated the first one.

Oh please, all the movies you listed were action and no they werent all awesome. Get over it. Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrells, Escape from L.A. and Princess Mononoke are the only 3 decent movies up there that are watchable again and again. The rest are watchable once IMO. Stay away? Phesh. You stay away from this thread more like.
