In another dimension, waiting for your call. Or maybe just playing endless card games to work out their strength.

Resting on the Farplane (realm of the dead) ? Traveling through the world like the Bahamut kid on FFx ?

Most of the games explain where they are.

If they have leisure time, I'm sure that there's some ethreal dimension that they spend time at, that people cannot normally pass through without some kind of effect, like in FFIV (Rydia becomes an adult due to the expenditure of time).

im playing ff4 right now thx 4 the spoiler but where do they go i mean in x if 2 summoners summon the same monster who will it come to and there is no way with all the summoning that an aeon hasnt been called by two summoners at once

maybe its like the bartimaeous trilogy where djinni are in a chaotic gaslike form and when summoned forced to take a physical form and if they dont come it hurts them

summons rest inside air particles then they are released wth enough thought & training but yet again it depends on which final fantasy haha

I think your punctuation mark keys are broken. Check your keyboard. Anyways, in 3, you can buy copies of some summons if you earned them in the first place. It probably works like Diablos in 8. They come out of a magic lamp.

In X there are even battles between the same Aeon, like Yuna with Isaaru's but each summoner's Aeon has a different name, i.e. Yuna's is Bahamut but Isaaru's is the same Aeon with a different name.

In the event battles that Renmiri mentioned, you are not allowed to summon the same Aeon at the same time as another summoner.

E.G., Yuna's Bahamut is not allowed to be summoned at the same time as Issaru's Bahamut (Spathi). And no, they are not their real names.

Eidolons usually come from within, so I'd guess that they're burried somewhere deep inside of me. xD

That's easy, they're all off having a mad summon/aeon/whatever orgy in their home dimension. That's why they're so powerful when you summon, they're pissed that you called them away.
