From a money made standpoint, it was PS2 - GCN - Xbox. From a units moved standpoint, it was PS2 - Xbox - GCN. Thems the facts. PS2 "won".

PS2 sold the most, thus it seems logical to say that it won. :)

No denying that the Ps2 won. As Roto said, it sold the most copies AND gained the most money. It wins in both of the ways that can be referred to as facts. Really the only question about the console's and their places is "Who got 2nd place?".

Really, 1st place isn't up for discussion. The only question here is what's more important. Sales or profits. And only to decide 2nd place.

PS2 first, Xbox second and Gamecube third.

I'm interested in knowing who voted for the Xbox.

PS2 obviously won, it still has major titles being released for it as we speak, but as for second place well that depends on where you go. In the United States, I think the Xbox sold more, whereas in Japan of course the Gamecube did.

The Xbox sold more overall, didn't it?

Not sure, for me though Xbox had a few good games, but even compared to Nintendo's exclusive games, it didnt compare. However it did appeal to alot of the American audience Xbox that is. Its pretty neck and neck i would say, but somehow i felt Xbox fell just a little short, but definetly nothing to scoff at.

Do we really need to know who won? PS2 did, however the next generation is a little more interesting than this current one..alot of things are still up in the air there..

People do realise that the Gamecube had better graphics, that dosent really mean anything . If graphics mean everything, Xbox should of won.

Obviously Sony won the last generation console war because they sold over 30 million Playstation 2 units.

RE 2 was the only best graphical feat that nintendo pulled...and PS2 was not that bad...as far as I could tell it looked pretty much the same...not to mention Ps2 got a ginormos anout of extra content.

Theres no debate, PS2 is the winner. It outsold the other systems, had the longest lifespan (hell, it's still alive and kicking), had the largest library, and the largest variety in genres.

PlayStation 2. i tried with GameCube, and the games are great (Mario Kart: Double Dash). i often talk about Final Fantasy for its great graphics, and as like what others have said "graphics don't always matter". that is true indeed.

Playstation 2 owned on both sides of the pacific. In the west X-box came in second, but in japan X-Box is such a joke they had to offer life sized Kasumi blow up dolls for every purchase of an X-box, and that still didnt move many systems.

I do feel sorry for nintendo though. Miyamoto isn't going to be making games forever, and thats all they got left by this point. I understand they are trying to keep gaming simple and fun, I respect them and wish them success. But I also wish they would wake up and listen to the demand and start trying to take advantage instead of ignoring the changing market. I dont want them to end up like sega.

I'm going to go against the most-used choice here and say the Xbox won, for me anyway. The PS2 won in terms of sales, price and quality (free online gaming, free DVD capability... can't say that about the Xbox), and it had a whole host of great only-on-PS2 titles, but for me the graphics were best on the Xbox, and it skipped the whole memory card annoyance, as well as having a pretty good music system (you can rip tracks very easily onto the Xbox... the only problem with it is it's slow speed).
