Kirby's first full-scale action game for Nintendo GameCube arrives with a variety of modes, including a wild multiplayer adventure. The story begins when Kirby sets out to get the stolen Warpstar back from King Dedede. It's tough going for Kirby when he's on his own...so it's a good thing he can catch a ride on the backs of his helpers. Utilizing a new attack system, Kirby can gain power by riding on up to three helpers. The more helpers, the more powerful the attack. It's up to Kirby to save the beautiful world of Dream Land.

Nintendo and developer HAL's Kirby series is a true favorite of ours as well as many Nintendo fans, and it's good to see the pink puffball back for his second DS game. Announced here at the Nintendo pre-E3 conference, the Kirby game is more a standard platformer than the previous Kirby: Canvas Curse, but it's full of DS features and frills worth checking out.
What's new for Kirby on DS? How about expanded Kirby abilities, where Kirby not only attacks enemies, but can also affect the environment by burn down trees with Fire or freezing water with Ice, thus opening previously unexplored areas? And how about massive improvements in abilities beyond that with the use of the DS touchscreen, as Kirby can combine copy powers with the use of the DS touchscreen?
The press release is unfortunately vague on a few key details -- we do not know if the game features multiplayer co-op as in the amazing Kirby: The Amazing Mirror game, although we do know that it features a multiplayer sub-game for four players (wireless link and DS Download Play, but not online.)
Kirby for DS (currently only with the name Kirby) reminds us a lot of his previous GBA adventure (in fact, in one screenshot, he is even seen sucking up food in a minigame direct from the last GBA title.) But is that a bad thing? Not at all -- Kirby has never disappointed (at least, never when he wasn't trying to race other Kirby's), and this DS game is bound to grow significantly in gameplay before its release (which is currently unscheduled. Check out screens of Kirby DS to see the game for yourself, and look for updates about it in the coming months.

What do you EoFFers think? :holmes: Kirby for the GC is borrowing some elements from Hoshi no Kirby 3, as you are able to ride on different creatures, thus making your abilities different. Kirby for the DS is giving a bigger emphasis on adventure, as different powers can do different things to the world. Me, being a huge Kirby fan, will pick up both. What about you? And what do you think of them? :holmes:
