LOCKE IS LIKE THE WORSE FF CHARACRTER EVER!@!!

This guy is so worthless to me. I can respect all the characters. Ive played final fnatasy one through 10(2)

Though I have not beat all the games. Locke seems almost to be the most pathetic and worthless character Ive ever had on a team.

Kain has swordtech which is usefull and can like everyone else have a espers powers he is good to throw in when you have most the team done but need one more guy,

Terra just turns me on...and and she is realy awesome with her magic espseccially with the aid of paired relics.

Sabin is awesome with his pummel which at level 17 takes off 500 or more and he is capable of better blitz attacks than that.

Celes (dont spoil the game for me I havent beat this one yet guys) Celes who appears to be dead is pretty cool too. I like her.

The old man forget his name. The casino player he does excellent with his special attacks.

raku or whoever that near mute kid is can be usefull .

mog or is it a kupo...anyways he is better than locke and can be nice.

Oh Edgar is nice with this blaster weapons and he can use espers too.

Locke sucks. His attacks stink. I hardly ever need to steal anything...hes more of a use to the story than he is to my actuall game play. Ive learned to hate this character. I hate having him on my team and I hate it when hes forced on to my team. He's a noob in my opinion.

Relm, not Raku (she isn't a Mexican, despite the circumstances of her birth)

And you are clearly out of your mind. Locke is one of the best characters in the game, especially if you give him the Valiant Knife (or 2), and Steal is great especially if you want to find Economizers, and Capture is doing both at the same time. That's win/win.

HAHA. Ok he's not the biggest looser ever. I just dont like how he smells and I just dont think that he is all too strong a character. If he doesnt suck I still say he's the weakest link.:) No hard feelings though mate Im glad that you enjoy the character.

I, on the other hand, still have locke as my favorite final fantasy character of all time. His emotons are real, and do not seem overly convoluted or reduntant. His determination, his protectivnes, his fears, and his desires are all summed up by his saddened past which is very tragic and still applicatable to a lot of peoples lives. I was able to relate with the little treasure hunter.

On the battle field, I absolutley loved locke. Swirft, able to steal, and an all around powerful character to have. His speed allows him to be an invaluable healing and support machine, much like Tidus of X. He has his place, and though it may not be the zomg 10x999^9 damage swings from his right pinkey toe, ffVI allows you to pretty much cap em out to do such, if that is your desire.

If we were talking shallow and worthless characters, I would think we could bring Quina (sorry jess), Umaro, or a multitude of other characters whom were fairly pointless (outside of sidequests) and the fact that they were seceret characters.

In short, I demand some logic if you plan on asserting this traversity!

Here's an example of why I don't like Locke. RIght now I am in a burning house fighting fire monsters. The game is on pause as we speak. I am tearing it up with strago who I just got and love and terra. They are kicking ass ...and little old locke is just getting in the way. I would preferr other team mates other than locke he just doesnt seem to be much use to me. Maybe its just my particular fighting style. Locke just isnt my type of character. Terra and Strago they are amazing....

I always rate my chars from how good they are in the end; and Locke is the only char in FF6 who can deal 9999*8 DMG. :D

Plus, he's a treasure hunter! What's not to like? Get it right or he'll rip your lungs out :D

Okay, well anyone could easily do that, but it's just a bit easier with Lock.

Character-wise...well, he's pretty cool I guess. Much like the rest of the FFVI characters, he has his good old character development. And 'Rachel' is a pretty tune. So nothing terribly bad with Lock. Sure, he sucks at the beginning of the game, but he's not bad at all.

i agrree with lovehurts. whilst liking locke as a person his attacks are never better than average

Edgar can use the Genji glove and offering plus cool tools. Lockes steal ability is rubbish, only sometimes works and is at best a waste of a turn. Hes an average fighter and that would be the only reason id keep him in.

i sometimes try to put him into my team cause i like him, but his abilities are below par. Especially when compared to the excellence of Gau, Strago, Edgar, Cyan, Setzer, Gogo even Mogs is better.

the only players id put behind Locke in terms of skill would be Relm (cant use her), Shadow (got fed up of him, never liked him), and Umaro (appears too late, techniques weird)

Blue phenoix; you don't use locke as a raw fighter. Like I said, he makes the best support tank/white mage. Easily. Throw him in the back row with boomerangs *mentioned in this thread already* and equip him with support and white magic. He will have great defence, average attack, and awsome utility. This is a good strat through the game, end game, Locke is a wrecking machine anyway you play him :)

Ok thanks. To be honest locke isnt so bad at attacks right now he seems to be average and actually I think Ive seen him take off 500 hp with his mere attack which is as much as a blitz can do from sabin...so locke actually is starting to look better. Ill go for a level 25. Ill equip ice weapons but only to attack the main blaize because if you attack the smaller ones (sorry forgot names in every ff game too) The can use explode ...and I rather just keep healing strago whos special attack hurts the main bliaze and kills the smaller bomb ones.

So Ill lv up terra. Doesnt she get anything stronger than cure 1 ?

I've never put anyone in the backrow in this game, but that's just me. Namely because when I was like 5 first playing it, I didn't know you could, and it wasn't that hard then, so whatever.

Cyan is still my favorite character. Locke can be decent, but I don't prefer him. I'd much rather Edgar, Sabin, Cyan, and a random 4th who sometimes is actually Locke, but not usually. I mean, I always use the special abilities because they're so much cooler than just attacking, so a person with an ability like Steal, seems basically useless to me. Another reason I never use say Terra, you can only morph rarely, otherwise it never lasts. Or Celes, Runic isn't very useful. Or Umaro, you never actually control him. Or Gau, rage makes him uncontrollable too. Relm, sketch fails way too much. Shadow's throw can be useful so he's typically the 4th character. Or Gogo cause he can have whatever skill I want. Mog's dance makes him uncontrollable too. So basically that makes Setzer my 4th character, but if I had a choice, it'd definitely be Leo! Imagine, Leo, Edgar, Sabin and Cyan, true physical dominance!

I typically choose Locke through the various preceding parts of the game so he will know Ice 2 and Cure 2 when I reach that point in the game.

But as has been said before, use Ice weapons, Ice Magic and Strago's Aqua Rake. :mog:

I always have everyone, including Shadow, learn Cure, Cure 2, Life, Antdot, Remedy, Regen, Fire, Fire 2, Ice, Ice 2, Bolt and Bolt 2 before entering Thamasa. :D

I absolutely love Lock. He's the reason why all of my characters are usually protected with Ribbons in the last dungeon. Just have Relm Control a Brachiosaur until Lock steals the Ribbon and finish it off wit spells. I want Lock's babies too!

At that point, I'd have Locke with the Thief Glove and the Genji Glove, as well as two Hawkeyes, as I believe that's what you could have him with. He'd be doing about 800 damage, 1200 if he threw the Hawkeye. He does pretty decent damage with the right equipment, and he can steal some nice stuff later on in the game. Plus his ATB charge is fairly fast, so, as mentioned earlier, he's good support.

Locke is also the strongest character i have in FFVI personally is also my favourite his always a level or two stronger than my other characters.

locke is my all time favorite character. his personality is actually realistic. his strength is amazeing. i cant even remeber how manye times if it wasnt for him i would have lost. he can equip all the beest weapons his capture abaility is a good way to wipe out enemys and get some cool stuff. keeping locke in your team will make it so you never hvae to worry about money because youll always have something to sell or pleanty of items to keep your guys alive anyways.

I never really cared for Locke that much, but he's far from the bottom of FFVI characters in general. Locke is pretty much a jack of all trades looking at his base stats-he has a pretty naturally high vigor and agility, and also decent magic. Steal wasn't really that useful--to me, it never is in any games except certain boss fights, etc. Bring him along if you know a certain monster has something nice for you to take from him. Capture sucks.

I am on the floating island with the statues training off of tents because the monsters WERE kicking my behind and I figured that if I cant beat the monsters there I wont be able ot beat the possible boss fight that might be there. So Im training and locke isnt all that bad. He is usually the last one standing . Terra and Locke the last 2 and if you give him enough relics and esper powers he has a nice reload time and he realy came through for me when I stold tinctures from the smaller foe from the airship befor I had to fight ultours(whatever) again.....

I diddnt have any ethers and I had to fight all those little /xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gifs before I could fight him. Locke stold tinctures with capture and helped beat them up pretty good as he did it.

Im changing my mind about Locke actually little by little.

That's good to hear. Make sure you continue to train his ass off. He'll especially be useful in the world of ruins:)

the reason Locke and Terra are surviving is because you leveled them and not anyone else for the Thamasa thing, so of course they survive while others don't. Sorry to say it, actually no, but there are far better characters

Atma Weapon? He's not that great. I beat him first try, and I haven't played this game in a looong time. I just remember that he wasn't too bad. Don't ask me how though, cuz I can't really remember.

I tend to forget Locke when I'm playing FFVI. I always do the Phoenix sidequest last, so he's pretty weak compared to the rest of the group by the time I find him. Storywise, I find him to be a good character, though.

Think of it this way:
Locke's the only char in the whole game, except Gogo, who can steal all this rare stuff.
For example, if you want two Tempests for Cyan, then you have to *STEAL* the second one from one of the enemies during the mine car scenario in the MagiTek Factory. :D

...and that's just a lame example.

you don't have to do that, in fact I suggest not doing it. DO you have just Celes or did you get Sabin as well? Either way, go back west then north past the big tower and continue the story up that way. Fighting Phunbaba now will not get you Terra.

terra is suppose to die, then the other characters come in and scare him away with a victory. then later the other characters are suppose to be getting crushed and terra comes and saves the day

Locke is pretty good. Alright, he's not the strongest fighter, or the best magician, but I find him to be good at filling in the gaps, healing here and there, hitting things repeatedly to help other physical attackers finish battles more quickly...besides, he can steal some nice stuff.
