Oh, I'm sure someone's seen them. A somewhat overweight Bill Gates look-a-like represents the PC and a young, fit 20-something represents the Mac.

I was laughing for half an hour when I heard the current version of this commercial. Mac couldn't beat the PC, so what do they do? They become a PC and call it a Mac!! Mac is advertising that they now run windows and windows programs even better than PC's do so there is no point in getting a PC. Well, if Mac thinks they won the "Mac-PC" war, think again! Anyone ever heard of "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em."?

BOOM!

That commercial is PATHETIC.

Mac's menus and program names are beyond "dumb".

I don't like the loook and with mac's you have to STARE too much, the lighting is BAD. fuck.

That "20-something" is actually Justin Long from Jeepers Creepers and Dodgeball. I myself am actually a PC guy, I would never go to a MAC. However I do like those commercials, I think they're pretty quirky.

It's really a lot more than that, but whatev. The switch was for the right reasons. Apple's a good company and all, but yeah, I despise these commercials. Basically, it's saying, "Hey, you're too stupid to use those overly-complex ancient slow machines that are created by fat cats in corporate business suits. We make it simple and hip! You'll grow long hair and listen to indie bands and smoke a lot of pot if you switch! Don't be part of the man!"

Exaggerated a bit maybe yes but I'm also tired and that totally sounded funny in my head.

For the uninitiated, here are a few:

Touche (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQmx6lC_oZE&search=Mac%20commercials)

Anyway, I don't mind the commercials. I use a PC because I always have and am too lazy to change my ways. That's also why I use IE. In other words, I'm apparently using the wrong everything, computer-wise

I don't mind the commercials because I'm very much a fan of the actor who plays the role of the PC. Aside from the Apple gig, he's made a couple appearances on The Daily Show as a historian/scientist sort of officer, and he evokes a very happy humor time.

Macs are superior to PC's.

I knew I saw that guy somewhere before. Yeah. He's great.

Not a fan of the commercials, though, even though I am a Mac supporter.

Mac users are the most annoying people on the planet (at least from my experience). They think that just because they have a Mac they're invulnerable to viruses, spyware, etc. I don't think the people sending out viruses care too much what kind of operating system you have, they only care about being able to surpass your firewall.

I'm the Juggernaut!
HAHAHA You know i clicked that.

I hate Macs and i can officialy say that. My school district is too cheap to buy pcs for the classrooms so all they get is macs. And seeing as the masses are complete idiots i have to help them with evry computer problem when all they have to do is open a program. *sigh* There is more trouble with a mac than with a PC. Erg i hate them.

Yeah, you're probably right that it is more complicated than that, but that's what the commercial seemed to imply. I wonder if by saying that Macs can do what PC's can do they also mean play all computer games......

I don't like these sorts of adverts. If you're going to come out and say that your product is great and someone else's product sucks, at least try to be subtle about it.

It's no different from the Linux gaming scene in that they could run it, assuming it'd compile and run smoothly with the graphics libraries available (OGL, prettymuch), which would require the engine to be prettymuch built from the ground up based around the available libraries. Some companies do it, others don't. Of course, you can still dual-boot into Windows now and play all of them which are based on DirectX natively, and it'll run pretty smooth, from what I've read.

Macs are far more expensive than PCs. Apple generally is just very generous to educational organizations to provide Macs.

I'm the Hulk.

But only because I was forced to use a Mac once and the menu's and program controls made no sense and didn't do the things you'd think they would, therefore making me angry. I'm sure Gamma rays from the monitor probably helped as well.

I don't really care for the commercials myself. I've always found PC's easier to use myself, but then I'm used to them. I can't blame Apple for trying to make the Mac seem cool though.

I don't watch tv and therefore haven't seen the commercials. You can make fun of Mac for going to an intel architecture that allows users to run windows, but Windows vista is basically (from what has been announced so far) a crappier version of Mac OSX. And regarding viruses, Macs don't get them because viruses are written to affect windows and don't work on a Mac. It has nothing to do with firewalls and everything to do with how the operating system is programmed.

I liked the HAL 9000 ad back in 1999. Using Y2K as a marketing scheme......genius....
