My first post in the art department, ryuk, death note.

Ixion faythstone, ffx, took me ages. I hope it's visible, I tend to draw very very light.

And last but not least, Vulcan Raven, metal gear solid. I know the gun is way off, but I'm happy with the rest. And the bird. :choc:
Comments are appreciated! I'll post some more soon I guess.

I just drew it quick...and yeah I messed up! =P Well, hope you like it! ^^ Btw, I made her up.
What is it? I can't see what it is? :( :mad2:
Wow, first post is already reviving the thread.
I can't tell if it's Male or Female. No compliments on this besides that the musles are good. :(
More Disgaea-y goodness! I was tryng to a full shot of the cut that you get when Flonne is involved in a combo attack, but I didn't have a too much of a reference to go off of so that's why it's different.
The bow should look more 3-Dish to meh, but over all, it's pretty good.
Just a quick Rydia Sktch on Open Canvas.
The face is out of proportion, yet the smiling sun Rox. :D

Laziness, that and I only just found out today that Photoshop has airbrush options. I really do need to play around with brush settings and my tablet more often -- though I didn't use a tablet for this, just a mouse and some layer masks.
But thanks! I am really digging the airbrush tools and hope that I will do a lot more with it. :)

I'll retire on the spot and never post any art ever again. T_T
Actually no, but you made me feel once again ashamed of how poor my art skills actually are sometimes.

All you need is an artistic eye / talent (which you very much have). In Photoshop, you can click the airbrush tool in the brush tool (if that makes sense) and set Flow to 1%, then you can build up with different colour tones. You can also use smudge/blur tools as well as colour dodge / burn / sponge tools to mix colours together and define specific areas.
It's best to start with large brushes and dark tones, then slowly build up to the highlights.
:) I hope that helps in some way, it's hard to explain in text...
KoShiatar
11-21-2007, 12:17 PM
Yeah, that's the method I use (I actually prefer to start working from middle range tones, then add shadows and highlights), but... my results just don't have that quality.
I should take art classes.
Just for curiosity, what's the size/resolution you usually start working from? Your work looks very, very detailed. I recently started working in 600 DPI, 300 not being detailed enough anymore, but I often end up building horribly large files that my computer cannot handle. é_è
How can I avoid that in Photoshop?
Rostum
11-21-2007, 12:57 PM
To be honest, I have really just used 72PPI (like the eye), but lately I have been using 150-200PPI and notice a huge difference. I'd say stick with around 200PPI if your computer can handle it (most likely can).
300DPI if you do plan on printing it out -- at least that's what I've been told (use CMYK instead of RGB then).
So yeah, I dunno.

Well, I don't really have anyone to talk to while I use Open Canvas, so I go to Paintchats when I'm lonely or bored enough to want to watch other people draw while I half-ass it. I'm in a art rut so watching other people epically own me makes me feel better somehow.

Haven't put anything up in a while...
The first lady is concept building on some doodles I did of Violet from Mercen-X's contest. (I'm sure I've seen Iris as a roleplay or a story somewhere, but I've never read it so I was just going off the Princess thing.) I don't think this is Violet though - she seems far too vampy.
The second girl just worked nicely, which made me rather chuffed. Although I've just noticed I've declined to draw her hand. It's very small, curled under and her cuff is very big, okay?
The third lady's original design (just a pair of AWESOME thighs with those teeny tiny hotpants) was so much better, but I deleted it, and I tried to reproduce the awesomeness about 8 times, but it did not work. She originally had tiny, scrubby bunches, but I can't really see her as a very bunches sort of person. When I cut them off, I felt like I had to give her some small semblance of femininity, so I gave her a skinny ponytail, but that just looked like a mullet, so I chopped that off and stuck on that ridiculous headdress.

I want to see that one finished, I like how you're inking it. Thick lines on the outside and thin on the inside always make for a nice effect, hide small faults and give that nice Art Nouveau touch.

lawl, love the monster pete.
Generally speaking, I suck at drawing boys (they either turn out girls or about 5 years old) so this piccy of Locke with no room for Rachel on the left made me quite chuffed. He...he still looks kind of like a girl though. If you think his expression is a bit weak for such a vibrant character, me too. I changed his eyebrows because before it looked as though he was about to murder Rachel. I kid you not. EYEBROWS DETERMINE THE FUTURE.
