How old were you when you discovered the truth about Santa Claus!? How did you find out?

I was about 7 or so, and I had peeked at the presents in my mothers room. When one of them showed up in my stocking I was like  .

My sister's story is better, she was about 9 and found the receipt for one of her gifts and my mother had to console her in a parking lot as she cried her eyes out.

What about you?

Not until I was eleven, wasn't really surprised, but it did kind of ruin the fun of Christmas for me.

I don't know exactly when I realized it. Probably when I was 7 or 8. I sometimes asked him for ridiculous things (like a reindeer) and then deemed he didn't exist when I didn't get them.

I was about 7. I realized that Santa and my stepdad had the same handwriting...

My parents never really taught me about the Santa thing. I pretended I thought he was real when I was like, 11, but I dropped that once I saw how retarded it was to be doing that.

I realised Santa wouldn't shop at Harrods

I never actually believed in him. Like the Easter Bunny, I just always thought of him as a cute idea who gave me stuff. Not real, but there none the less.

Since five. I found out because someone told me, and confirmed it when I realized that Santa and my sister had the same handwriting. However, gifts-wise, I usualy get what I asked for, not that my family did a very good job of hiding it, which was rather impossible. It's called a wallet. Right next to the keys.

I never believed. My childhood was short. I was already expanding my portfolio at the age of five.

Shamefully I was 15! I had to keep pretending for my younger brother and I just stated to think maybe the dude is real. Then I caught my mum and step dad going downstairs at 2am with our presents ...

I never believed in him to begin with. I know, you probably don't believe me, but I couldn't really care less. :)

Hmm, I was probably 7-8 years old. Other kids at school kept talking about Santa's fake beard and taking it off to see who's behind it. >_> Sometimes I was able to recognize his voice even when he was trying to fake his voice. When I was a kid, I often asked Santa Claus how old he is, and his answer kept changing every time, sometimes being 300, sometimes being 1200+, so that also made me suspicious.

My parents never told me about him... It's a lie and eventually kids are going to find out the truth. So, they didn't do it. My mom's a teacher and she has to deal with kids arguing about whether he's real or not.

You guys should put this stuff under spoiler tags. :( It's just not fair on the rest of us who believe, y'know?

I never believed in some bloke coming down the chimney to deliver presents in December despite my dad's outrageous attempts to spice up the story that there was also some French geezer dressed in a blue santa suit that would cane you

I never really believed in him, or at least don't remember a point when I did.

I can't remember how old I was when I found out.. Probably 6 or 7. I think I'd stopped caring about the idea of Santa and then kids in school would always say how they found out he wasn't real. It wasn't really a shock to me though.

I had to keep pretending for a couple of years for my little brother, and I remember always messing up and then having to try to cover up my mistakes so he wouldn't realize.

..Good times.

I found out when I was about 6. I'm still kinda forced to believe in him otherwise my family refuses to give me presents. Ugh. :/

I once had a dream that Santa Clause was a pastor.

I first found out Santa was more definitely real when I was 11. A big fat man invited me into his grotto for tea and biscuits, and some stockings. I've never seen stockings used that way before...

I was in second grade when I found out if you screw with his name you can get SATAN CLAWS. Unscramble the first and phenetically spell his last. St. Nick should be ST. Nigk. There was a translation problem. This puts him as Satan King. Voilaa. Santa is the devil
