Ten years... that's a bit broad. My favorite years of gaming were between 1994 to 1999, the late 16 bit to 32 bit era. Coincidentally enough, the golden age of RPGs as well. Your question is still a bit too broad though. What genre are you going for? Looking for a solid platformer like Yoshi's Island or Rockman and Forte? Or a good RPG like.... Lord knows how many. Any specific gaming system at least?

Any game, any genre, for any platform (although, preferably the PC)

All I had during that time period was an NES and a Gameboy/GBC. So I pick:

Pokémon.

-Grim Fandango. It's an absolute must-buy for anyone who likes adventure games.

-Omikron, the Nomad Soul. If you find this on discount, it's definetly worth it.

-Heroes of Might and Magic 3. It's actually seen as better than Heroes of Might and Magic 4. It combines civilization building with turn-based battles, and is one of the most addictive games ever.

-Age of Empires 2. This may be old, but I still find it great. Try to find it with the expansion pack.

-Monkey Island series (the last one was in 2000, but whatever)
