The easiest way to get the best quality and most complete material is to listen to the .spcs straight from the game. First, you need the .spc plugin for Winamp from http://www.snesmusic.org . Then, get these two:

That's the CT soundtrack and the Prerelease soundtrack, respectively. The CT soundtrack archive on the Compendium has 84 tracks, more than any other, as it includes all the ambient material as well as the removed fanfare found in the Japanese cartridge only. The Prerelease is also noteworthy because Track...24, I think, is a full version of Chrono Trigger without any breaks. It rules.
