I've been watching FMVs on FF8.
And I like it so far--
yet..I'm not sure if I should get it.
It looks like a good game.

Should I?!

You can't really decide if you'll like a game or not from its FMVs..

At any rate, go try it out and see if you like it for yourself. Don't be overwhelmed by the Junction System though, it's very easy to use in your favor.

I think the question should be why shouldn't you buy FFVIII? Not the best, but it's definately a fun rpg.

Yeah I don't really like the junction system... I know how to use it and all but I still don't like it. It's not that bad though. I'd rather stick to using MP and such.

If you like RPG games then definately get it. Just make sure to pay attention to the Junction tutorials. If you don't understand it then you will have a hard time getting through the game.

Yeah, it's definitely a fun game and well worth a purchase. Just don't expect to be overly impressed by the plot; you will literally cringe at how lame some of the scenes are.

Final Fantasy VIII is one of the greatest hits in the series, IMO. i've played it more than any other game and it's one i would most likely go back and play again.

I don't know how anyone can argue with a surreal ending, of all things. But Zeromus puts surreality above other things when judging games, so that may be why. :cat:

Me too. One of my favourite games. I've only recently started a new game :). The junction system is confuzzling at first but you'll get the hang of it. Its not as if after the first tutorial is over you cant see how to use it. You can always look in the menu and find out.

Yes you should definitely buy it and try it out. The storyline is great and the graphics are amazing considering it’s on PS1. The junction system does take a while to get used to but the storyline makes it worth it.

The story sucks in comparison with the others.
The junctioning (equipping and ability) system is kinda crappy.
You have to STEAL MAGIC FROM ENEMIES and extract them from locations in order to use them.
Enemies level up with players so, there is no pwning.

eh. might as well pick it up, it still beats most other games.

I personally like that feature cause it gives a challenge to the game. But thats just me.

The trick is not to level up, and juction powerful magic to your stats. So then you have insanely powerful characters fighting piss-weak enemies.

It's so broken it's fun.

FF8's story was a hell of a lot more complex and in-depth than 9's.The Junction System is only bad when you don't understand it. Drawing magic takes but a couple minutes if you have a decent Magic stat. Obtaining powerful magic is made even easier by modding cards. There is no pwning only when you don't use the Junction System to your advantage.

eight's story was probably a little more complex than nine's was. But nine put more emphasis on the characters of the game therefore making nine's story more enjoyable.
