View Full Version : The Unveiling of The EoFF Post, Issue 01! Exclaim!

Figuring that if we did not publicize it on the first of the month, then maybe the 4th of July would be a great time to do it, so here it is:

[The EoFF Post Newspaper] (http://eoffpost.akusui.net/news.php)

Read it. Love it. Bookmark it. Post your thoughts, dreams, concerns, and hopes.

Spam this thread to death about how cool this newspaper is. Everyone involved put in a lot of work into, put up with a lot from me, and generally suffered a great deal to do something they enjoyed. Thank these people for it; they work to give you the best newspaper they can, while I take a lot of the credit.

The list of the awesome newspaper staff includes: Lynx (http://forums.eyesonff.com/member.php?u=9019), Editor/Reporter - That's me. I wish were more conceited so as to say something clever, but that isn't me. Go, me, 'cause my [MGS codename] (http://www.metalgearnamegenerator.com/) is cooler than yours?
Neel (http://forums.eyesonff.com/member.php?u=300), Editor/Reporter - The laid-back yet hard-working editor. He likes Spicy Buffalo Chicken Melts. Bribing him does wonders if you know what to put in front of him.
Del Murder (http://forums.eyesonff.com/member.php?u=1390), Jumbler - He makes jumbles? He also has ties with the Mafia and the Cid's Knights. Very cool-head guy with a good sense of humor.
Dignified Pauper (http://forums.eyesonff.com/member.php?u=12303), Reporter - Opinionated, outspoken, and passionate, this guy fails where others fear to. In your face, uh...Face. I didn't ask anyone about how I should do this.
Elyse (http://forums.eyesonff.com/member.php?u=237), EoFFsearcher - This is a made-up job, but she does it very well. Normally regulating herself to the EoEO forum for some lunatical reason, she came out of way-too-serious-land to show that she has another, softer side. Cheers.
Old Manus (http://forums.eyesonff.com/member.php?u=10496), Cartoonist - Bitter and possessing a wry sense of humor, Manus brings to the field the kind of cruel and low-hitting jokes that most dare not try. That's 'cause he's more awesome than most.

So, give us accolades, laurels, and fanfare. And enjoy our slant on the news, please. http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/smash.gif

This actually informed me of something that happened/is happening here. Therefore, I give this and A for Awesome, becuase A is the first letter in Awesome.

Lynx is her majesty's agent Umaro?

Edit: Oh yeah, nice job all of you. I've only read one article so far but it was good.

EoFF members meet up without having to create a thread about it in General Chat!
Haha, this happens more often than you might think, but you don't know about them because, well, no threads are made! Oh golly, Mr. Nezzer, now whaddyathinko'that?

This is a rather nifty newspaper, even though I've only read a little bit so far. I can only assume that there will be an issue released every month! Although I wouldn't say it's hotter than foa. That's just silly.

Just a tip, you might want to explain what you're supposed to do with Sudoku stuff, because I had to look it up elsewhere.

Enjoying the reads so far - I've checked the one about Yams taking over, the one about usernames, the one about the revival of the EoFF Post and the NZ meetup one so far.

I really like it, I look forward to more issues. The layout is also a great improvement. :)

So there.

Also, remember that we have a [Contact Us] (http://eoffpost.akusui.net/contact.php) page, where you can email us with praise or suggestions for news stories!

To answer several questions, even if they've been answered:
Jojo - I love you dearly, but I cannot give credit if you never kept me warm on a chilly night! :|
Sagensyg - About registration: it's only for people who work for the post. It's been considered and will be considered again and again whether to allow non-Post staff to register, but yeah, the answer so far is no. As for recruiting more people: we like to play safe and privately approach people thus far. I hope that answers something more clearly.
Rengori - *bows* Genius Lynx, at your service. I've never tried to hide it and still go by Lynx on the whole. It's just fun to have a silly name now and then.
BoB - I'm definitely hoping that we can churn out enough work to produce an issue every two weeks, but once a month sounds very good too. Heck, a second issue sounds awesome when you realize no other edition of the Post got past its first.

b0b you've got to be the only person left in the world that didn't know how to do sudoku.
They call it something else in my newspaper. I wasn't sure if this 'Sudoku' was the same thing or not - hence they should have an explanation. Not every newspaper in the world calls things by the same name, especially if it's a foreign word. I mean, you guys called what I call a 'Wordfind' a 'EoFFSearch', for example. I hope you guys call crosswords crosswords!

Just a tip, you might want to explain what you're supposed to do with Sudoku stuff, because I had to look it up elsewhere. That did occur to me, but I lacked the motivation to do something about it. :p

Yeah, we did put in a significant amount of time to this. I hope we can pull the next one off without me having to drive to Albuquerque again. :p

By the way guys, don't just read the newspaper. Feel free to take a look around the other sections of the paper as well. It's powered by this nifty PHP-fusion that only Lynx understands, and is pretty much the reason why this paper will get off the ground.

Lev, there is no reason to have an article link for the Entertainment items; they are complete and whole as they appear in the paper. If you want to view them by themselves, you can use the [Article Index] (http://eoffpost.akusui.net/articles.php).

So we'll see the next one in about 4 months with a completely new design, yes? Excellent. :p

I think it's traditional for me to post the answer to Del's jumble.
UELSVHOTR
L (O) V E (H) U R (T) S

ORGLOE
R O O (G) L (E)

TDIEAGTKHNH
D E (A) (T) H K (N) I G H T

PREBPI
(B) I P P (E) (R)

Now unscramble the letters found in the (_) to form the answer to the Big Jumble:

Q: What do the Knights do when there is a spam attack on the forums?

GEATNBEROHT

A: They B A N - T O G E T H E R

I think it's great. The layout is fantastic, allowing for easy access to what readers are looking for specifically, and the load times are lickety split, even on foa's dial up of death. The writing is personable and casual, which I assume was intended, and makes for good reading. A plus plus.

But there's no way it's hotter than me. It doesn't even have feet. :greenie:

Looks like Lynx is yet to learn of just what a Page 3 really is! Don't worry - before I came to the UK, I had no idea, either.

Emerald Aeris
07-05-2006, 02:24 PM
I should note that all the questions for the word search I got from the EoFF Wiki, so some of the more obscure answers will be there. :)

So after being basically told what Page 3 was and doing some quick referencing on Google, all I now have to say is: this is the Internet. You already have access to all the smut you need, so this newspaper needn't cater to that.

If BoB does nude modeling for the Post, and we make a thread linking to the newest Post issue with the nudes in it, who gets banned? Does the newspaper have free speech? Is it subject to the rules of the forum or is it separate? While this scenario is facetious at best, it does shine light on an important issue of jurisdiction. So discuss.

further, Old Manus, your cartoons make me laff.

There shan't be smut. We'd have to find a new host if we wanted to do that.

That said, I don't think a newspaper with adult content would be mix so well with a family-oriented paper. Maybe a second newspaper could do that, but I think that the EoFF Post will be that one that anyone can read (unless our writing is terribly bad or beyond you), thirteen, twenty, or fifty-years old. Y'know, anybody.
