What is this.

I call it a freezie. I asked my colleague (from California) what it is called.

She called it an 'ice lolly(ie)'.

WTF

I demand more nonsense. What do you call this?

They're not ice lollies.

Ice lollies are things on a stick. Do you see a stick in that picture? Do you, Impureghetto? I think not!

Jess

Freezepops. Ice Lollies require a stick, as Pie said.

Its an ice lolly because I don't know what else to call it. I avoid those things like the plague. Its made of frozen liquid (doubt its water or fruit juics), therefore ice

Peegee
07-05-2006, 08:17 PM
If it's not a freezie I have no idea what it is.

My colleague called it an ice lollie, not me. I was like 'o.O' just like you.

o.O?

They don't even look frozen to me, hence I am dubbing them "Juice in a tube" for now.

If they were frozen I'd be inclined to agree with yuna_elena.

Cornsicles!

I don't think there's any such thing as an ice lolly. I think that's just the crazy people talking and making up foods that don't exist. You crazy people.

Those are FreezePops, or IcePops. Freezie is a perfectly acceptable name for them.

Anything with a stick that is fruit flavored is a popsicle. If it has a stick, and it's orange on the outside with white on the inside, it's a creamsicle or a dreamsicle. If it's chocolate, it's a fudgesicle or fudgepop. If it has a crispy chocolate exterior and vanilla ice cream inside, it's a mule. And that takes care of that.

For the British!

The stick thingies are ice pops.
The ones ON sticks are ice lollies.

For the Americans...

The stick thingies are freeze pops.
The ones ON sticks are popsicles.

Yeah I don't really remember. Both ice pops and freeze pops sound sort of familiar though. I might have even called them icies or something like that. I don't know I just ate them every once in awhile a decade ago :(

I'm waiting for a New Zealander to respond because I can't remember what the hell we called those things for the life of me. I know that what you guys call popsicles or ice pops in your countries are called 'ice blocks' in NZ.

NZ keeps things simple.

We have ice creams, which is anything to with ice cream, be it in tubs, sticks, etc, and we have ice blocks, which means anything formed of ice that you suck, lick, etc. Popsicles are a BRAND of iceblock here.

[Please, just accept a definitive source.] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popsicle)

The best I could find for icepops was some strange stub labeld "Pop" which mentioed the term for sleeved popsicles without sticks as "freezies". That would cover Otter Pops and the like.

Apon searching for the definitive term on wikipedia I stumbled apon a lenghtly disscussion on the matter, and infact the serious American bias in the naming of all snack related wikipedia articles.

I now suddenly feel strangely disinterested, and unclean.
