I own the US version, but I would very much enjoy getting my hands on the INT version...

On a side note, does anyone know where I may be able to purchase the INT version at a reasonable price?

It really is common sense. If anyone believes they could just import a game and play it on another countries console is bizzare. Its the same with DVDs, they all all different regions and yes it does applie to games also.

I believe a Gameshark has a "Regionfree" option integrated in it, allowing you to play imported games on an American console, though don't quote me. Just seemed to recall seeing/hearing about such a thing...

Wait, does Int. work on PAL consoles?

The English version of International is the PAL version. The PAL version is Internation in English. If it doesn't play on a PAL console then the console is broken.
