The FF franchise is stronger than ever, Its the series that Square gets the most money from, they wont just blurt out and say that FF? will be the last. They'll need a reason, and the best reason is the drop in popularity, which is unlikely to happen. So I reckon the series will last along time. My guess is late twenties to mid thirties.

The FF series will end when everyone who worked or was associated with the original game is either dead, dying, or incapacitated, and unable to contribute in any way, shape, or form. This'll take the series to the 20s, but not much further, depending on the popularity of the series.

Or the second generation of FF makers will be able to take the mantle of their predecessors, do them proud, and create a string of games even greater than the originals, ushering in a golden era (well, even MORE golden) for RPGs in general. And it'll thusly establish FF as a never ending series until video games are no more.

Maybe if SE started a new series that was like FF, (obviously still had the Fantasy RPG feel) but with a different name. I predict they'll go upto XV, and then unleash the sequels inbetween.

I personally think that the series should end after all the original creators have parted ways (which is already happening). It's had a good long run already, I'm okay if it ends.

Then again, if they can continue the series entering a 'new golden era' I won't complain about that either. :D

i agree that as long as they sell well and continue to be good they should keep on coming. eventually there will be different people working on them but it could be for the best and i doubt it will be a bad thing if that happens. it depends. i think they should not only make new ones but it might be good to make remakes and sequels if they are good. because it would be pretty hard if in the future there is an FF fan who has FF XVIII or something and want to get FF1 and 2 and stuff but cant because there so old and rare.

I know the different games are independent from one another, but it would be nice to have the last one tie them up, show a connection or something. I think that would be uber-cool. :D

Then when SE decide to throw in the towel they will make something new (ie....erm....KH5) or something. Then as consoles develope and advance they will make remakes of the games with impressive covers :D. When SE decide to stop making FF it should go out with a bang! (and I dnt mean somthing that will literally blow ur playstation or whatever it is to smithereens!) I hope it goes up to XX something but from at the moment I can only see it making its way to XVII.

Personally I think they should have something self destruct when you finish the last game. Mind you I'm a guy who likes seeing things blow up. Just final FMV then BOOM! end of series.
