View Full Version : My Aeris Theory (some spoilers, I suppose)

Okay, okay, we all know that our Aeris dies at the end of the 1st disk, right? You see her reappear as a ghost several times in the game, and in Advent Children. Yet, in Kingdom Hearts, there she is, alive, well, and breathing normally. So what happened? Why is she all of a sudden alive? It even shows her w/ Yuffie and Cloud at the end (boy, is he surprised to see her or what?! lol) My theory:
Aeris had an identical twin sister named Aerith. We meet Aeris at the church and everything, play the game w/ her, go on a date w/ her at Golden Saucer and that's where it stops. The morning when the team is going to Temple of the Ancients, Aeris oversleeps, and they forget her cuz Tifa said she was already in the Tiny Bronco waiting. Aeris wakes up alone, and goes looking for them. Then the ghost of Don Corneo kidnaps her and takes her back to a secret island.
Aerith was separated from Aeris at birth. Her father took her to live with him in the Sleeping Forest. He died when she turned 17, so she's livin on her own for a few years, and she meets a bunch of weird people who seem to recognize her. They take her with them and together they get thru that part of the game. When the team is sleeping, she sneaks off and is murdered by Sephiroth, who mistakes her for her twin sister. After the game, Yuffie goes looking for materia in hidden islands, and finds Aeris! They go off together, and that is where Kingdom Hearts begins.
What do ya think?

Theory fails for expecting KH and FF7 to share a timeline, and for pissing on parsimony.

Maybe she has a twin sister. Aeris did die because of Sephiroth. Yuffie find Aerith in a hidden forest but I didn't know that because I never played the game before. I think that's a good theory.:) :kaocheer:

This arguement is utterly ridiculous, and I can only hope that that is how it was meant to be taken. In the case you are serious, seek mental help. And, as someone said earlier, assuming FFVII and KH take place in the same universe is an incorrect conclusion. That's the same game where Cloud has a wing that's opposite from Sephiroth's, yet he never displays this wing anywhere else. The original point of KH was to get small children involved in the Square games so that when they got older they would play the older children games such as Final Fantasy. It was all a marketing trick to appeal to the younger generation in the first place. It is not meant to be an actual occurence in the life of the FF characters.
Edit: Aeris and Aerith are the same person. It's a long story that I'm not going to go into, but Aeris was a translation error. Her name should actually have been Aerith in the English version, and so your theory fails.

That is my opinion also..Aeris died in FFVII thatīs how the story goes i understand that a bunch of Aeris fans refuse to see this and make enthusiastic threads about how she survived or how she wasnīt really slain be Sephiroth but thatīs just fan fiction nothing else...:eep:

FE's theories were better than that ^
That was ridiculous. Just... I don't even know. Wtf. Wtf?
Aeris should have stayed dead, even in KH and KH2 anyway.
I think that KH is like a different dimension where like I don't know maybe Ulti got her wish and compressed time maybe.
Its a game they can do whatever the hell they want with characters. Like bring as many of them back to life as they want.

Oh, the FE's. Whatever would we do without their humor in our lives? Speaking of humor, I found this post rather amusing, simply because it makes mention of the FE's. I cried aloud with mirth and merriment.

That's true, but just because they have the right to do it doesn't automatically mean it isn't retarded.
Point is, we clearly see sephiroth's sword stab throguh Aeris, most likely hitting her spine and slicing open her heart, stomach, lungs or all three. We see her falling to the ground, and her funeral afterwards.
They they say "HAY GUYS, AERIS IS ALIVE! HA, TRIKD U". It is their character, ofcourse they are allowed to do it, but it's still retarded,

Riiiiight...
I won't be cruel and unusual in my post, but I will tell you one thing: I want to be.
Kingdom Hearts, to my knowledge, takes place in some alternate dimension, and on top of that, has a different timeline. The two games share characters and the many of the characters' trademarks, but that is it. Nothing more.
Aeris is a mistranslation of Aerith. Square realized this in their later games, and as such, whenever Aerith is mentioned, it's spelled Aerith, as it was originally intended.

Yeah but people are saying "oh yeah its a different dimention" No it isnt. Its a game, most of the time the game designers do not think "we can make it seem like its a different dimention". They think "oh it is a different game so lets being back some dead characters".

KH is a different friggin continuity. None of the original games or movies have any bearing on what happens in KH, nor are the backstories necessarily similar.

I never said anything about dimensions. I'm assuming you're talking about KH now. KH didn't continue FF7's storyline, like FF7AC did. Therefore, the existance of an Aeris in KH is irrelevant (why the thread starter brought KH up is beyond me). Furthermore, the thread starter seemed to believe Aeris (or her twin) lived on in FF7AC, which wasn't the case. That was just Cloud hallucinating, or her spirit talking to him though some fancy lifestream thing or whatever.
That aside, I'm just saying that reviving anyone in a sequel without any good reason is retarded, regardless of if it's their right or not. Note that I don't think Tidus in FF10 was revived, because I don't think he died at the end of FFX.
So yeah, I guess the creators just thought "it's a different smurfing game" when they made KH. But with AC they couldn't do that because the movie was related to the story of the game, in which she died for good.

Depends on how you define "alive". If you think someone or something is alive if he/she/it conscious, then Tidus was most certainly alive.

You could see Tidus swimming around in a something full of water at the end of FFX. That means he still existed. That means he was not dead. That means he was not revived in X-2.

Alive in the sense of being "revived", or being brought back from the dead? I don't think so. As you can see, you said "revived" and I based off "alive" with what you said. Tidus was not dead, nor was he alive.

I'm not really sure where you are going with that post...
I think tidus was alive, because he was conscious. Sure, he was a dream of the fayth, but the dream of the fayth very much existed in the physical world.
But even if he was, as you said, neither alive nor dead, that means he did not die at the end of FFX (something that isn't alive can't die), and he was not revived in FFX-2 (you can't revive something that isn't dead).
