We all have our own way of earning gil. Some people craft, some people do BCNMs, some people play the AH like it's the stock market (buy low, sell high), some people farm, some people run casinos, and some pervy manthras cyber with people for gil. Everyone has their own way.

Personally, I've been too lazy to level any of the crafts and I have no patience with farming.

So for the past 2 years, I've basically made all the gil I've needed doing quests and selling the expensive scrolls that I get rewarded with for doing those quests.

The only other method of gil making that interests me would be BCNMs. But I don't really have any experience with these and I'm not sure what BCNM would be best for making profit, or how to go about doing them.

So what's your preference when it comes to making gil? Which strategy has proven most profitable for you?

I make money with my friends. We have mastered a few jobs so that we don't need to depend on anyone outside of our group.

I do not play regularly anymore, so I am left with a small fund for them to dip into if they need travelling money or something like that. It's just a small amount and we don't buy any equipment anymore, so our cost of existing is basically zero, unless we're buying some new piece of equipment or something.

I sell Crystals.

and yeah... buy low, sell slightly higher.

for profit.

I buy stuff from NPCs and sell it at high markups. Basically taking advantage of people's laziness. I also tried buying a stack of an item at the AH and selling them individually when there was a discrepancy between prices, but that hasn't worked out so well.

I used to camp Stroper Chymes for Archer's Rings, but now their drops have been changed to rare/ex. I used to mine, but now I'm too lazy. I used to do BCNM 40: Steamed Sprouts with a static party, but they betrayed me. Now I pretty much don't make gil.

Who's the third other person? D=

Yeah, harvesting used to be a big one, but the prices for everything have almost halved. I still do it, but it's nowhere near as profitable as it used to be. But yeah, there's that BCNM30 that I think Lionx was talking about that we started doing with our friend Armando. Go-go gun belt!

I pretty much sell my drops from exp parties until I get enough beastmen seals and kindred seals to (hopefully) get something good from them. So far my BCNM40 runs have had no luck at all, with all the drops just being NPC'd. KS30 has been a lot nicer to me, with a V.Claw the first time I tried it, and some ingot the second time that got me 500k.

I've leveled Alchemy, but I had to stop at 51 because I ran out of gil. I can HQ Silent Oils pretty consistantly somehow, but the market is so flooded with those that they end up getting sent back to me.

I hate farming. I used to help my fiance with her crafting by farming for her, but now I just don't even farm at all. All the places I liked to farm are too overpopulated. I'm thinking about Powerleveling for gil on my 54 RDM. <_<

I don't think I could even list the multitude of ways that my wife and I make money. We change things up quite a bit so that we don't get too frustrated and bogged down in one type of gil making.

1. Norg runs - We get her a level 1 character, fame it up, and we run it to Norg to do all of the NIN scroll quests. This once was insanely profitable but RMT are crawling all over it now and pushing prices through the floor. We can still make about 1M/run which doesn't seem work it for the effort at times but ocassionally we do it for quick money.

2. Selling drops - We almost never farm. We sell drops from XP or sky or whatever else. We never throw anything away. Sure it might only sell for 1k/stack but to us that's a free chocobo. We sort all random items away onto one mule in our army of mules (16+ I think) and sell it later. This makes for a very very steady income that will cover basic costs for almost anyone. I'd highly recommend it.

3. Crafting - I'm a crafting fiend. Between the two of us we've found numerous methods for making money with our various crafts. HQ bolts with her woodworking is good. Kaginawa is a decent market I hope to get into once I get my Cloth over 60. Plenty of other easy sources in crafting.

4. NM camping - This is something I hate doing and only do in situations that allow me to be slightly above the luck level. NMs like Padfoot are great... 21-24hr pop... 5 pops... 100% drop on one of the pops. If you track the ToD over a decent amount of time you can do pretty well against the competition. I don't, however, ever camp NMs that are absolutely luck based. I can make more money in the time it takes them to pop than their item is worth.

5. Mercenary work - I rarely accept money or gifts for my help as long as the person I'm helping isn't an asshat. If someone is looking to pay 100k/person to a group of 6 and I know I can solo or duo what they need I'll take 100k and do it solo to save them some gil. I can solo/duo (with my wife) all but a handful of AF3 NMs, all AF2, almost every rank misison before 8-1 in every nation. Decent money there if I felt like taking it.

6. Fishing - I'll do this sometimes if I'm bored. Since I'm still working on my LuShang's it's not much profit though I plan to just buy the rest of the carp (5M worth) to get my LuShang's before doing much more. There is a lot of money to be made here.

7. Chocobo Digging - This wouldn't be profitable at my low level if I did not have so many crafts leveld but since I do I can refine my digs and make out pretty well.

This is just a shortlist among the many other more detailed things me and my wife use to make gil. I would definitely consider us to be in one of the upper echelons of wealth just below the "I can buy anything I want any time" group of people.

i do year's #2 definately. anything stackable, no matter how seemingly worthless i send to a mule until i accumulate a stack, then I sell. I've made about 4m from this alone. Mind you this is all crap that sells for less than 100k/stack, rarely anything over 30k/stack. bird feathers, bat wings, crystals, etc.

I've made money in so many other ways, bc40's, ks30's, farming, nm's, ls skygil.
lately a major steady form of income for me are ABC's(Ancient Beastcoins) which drop in Limbus. I want a Boxer's Mantle and a Brutal Earring, but as long as i can sell the coins for 100k each instead, I don't see how trading 75 coins(7.5Million gil) is worth it. I've almost got literally every buyable item I could ever want for thf, so once I do, at that point I'll stop selling the coins and trade them for the mantle and earring, and maybe even some af1+1. Til then 800-1000k a week for about an hour's worth of work and a chance at homam is sooooooooo worth it. Limbus is just plain fun neway.

eventually I plan to finish taking my 55+1 bonecraft, which i haven't lvl'd in about a year and a half, to 100, but first I need to take leather to 60 and don't have the patience/time to do that atm.

I'm in the same boat as chionos. I nearly have every concievable thing I could want that can be bought with gil with few exceptions (namely extreme rare chance HQs like Sheikh Gages). Me and my wife share our Limbus coins. As it is she is only a short way from her Loquacious. I already have items for a second AF+1 but have to wait for her to finish Loq first ; ; After this I'm going for the Musical Earring before getting my last piece of AF+1. I definitely think it's worth 7.5M gil. As it is I use Singing (1.5M), Wind (3M) and Astral (5M) earrings. Aside from that, for soloing I use Melody +1 (1Mish) and Suppanomimi (priceless) so 7.5M doesn't seem rough at all.

Actually, now that you mention it it makes me want to supplement our ABCs by buying a few ^^

If you're interested in BCNM a good choice is Royal Jelly BCNM40. Its not that difficult and you can get some good drops including Archer's Ring. This is done with a RDM and 2 DD's (Me and 2 mates go RDM, DRK, RNG)

I'm only starting out, but to make some quick cash, I sell drops on the AH. Grain seeds sell particularly well. Being a THF, I can pretty easily steal willow fishing rods; I sell those too. Then, like other's have said, saving random stuff until I get a stack of 12 and selling. I don't know if this applies to other places, but in Bastok AH, a single zinc ore sells for more than a stack of pickaxes; quite profitable. After all of this, I feel like the richest newb in the world. :)

Haha the reason Zinc Ore sells so well in Bastok is because number 1 on my list of money makers. The RMT have figured out how to farm these NIN scrolls on level 1 characters (I've often seen them in lines the way you do fishing bots with them all following each other). To get fame for these quests you need 105 Zinc Ore. Apparently RMT aren't smart enough to gather the Zinc Ore in places other than Bastok. We usually collect ours mostly in other nations for 1k/ore. However, the RMT buy from Bastok non-stop at 3-4k/ore That cuts about 200-300k off of their profit margin which they have now made razor thin after driving Utsusemi: Ichi down to around 400k.

Sucks for RMT. Sucks for me. Great for miners, new players and people planning to level NIN soon.

Switch to THF, kill stuff in Zeruhn, sell anything that isn't a batwing on AH, go to sandy and Bazaar batwings next to batwing quest NPC for 800~1200g, rinse, repeat.

I sell crystals, I even found 2 people who i'm buying them off, yeah I have to meet them miles from the ah but they I buy them for 100 gil each no matter what crystal it is. I have even bought 18 dark crystals off i person for 1800 gil, I topped it up to 24 my self and got 5000gil for each set of 12.

Batwing - 10K on my server, what are you thinking?

Intermediate teamwork quest in Sandy gives you the Mage's Ballad scroll, which sells for over 100k, mine sold at AH for 120k in less than a day (now I can get back to wood working, and, surprisiongly, Lauan Shields sell for 1500 - 2000, which is quite profitable)

On my server (Pandemonium) stack of silk threads sells for 50 k so all i have to do is fight a lot of Crawlers to get my easy money but i don't do that. I buy insect balls and a fastwater fishing rod and fish near the bridges in Windrust Woods and u get a moat carp almost every time and a stak costs 7k.

Well, I normally do BCNM40 runs with Deo. Ranger, Dark Knight, Red Mage can easily win it. If you spend about 5k on items (ie Ethers) it's guaranteed victory. Good drops too, Utsusemi Ni and Archer's Rings worth noting. Phalanx used to be good, but it's fallen a lot since then.

Now I make most of my gil off of the AH. I buy the -1 swords from Aht Urhgan (1000 gil each) and walk to the Merry Minstrel, where I sell them to an NPC for just over twice that. So fast, so easy.

That and the 1 gil game pays off.

I should also mention that make a decent profit from tele-taxing. It wasn't really worth it to stand around waiting to teleport people when the price was only 500-1,000 gil. But these days, the main 3 teles (dem, holla, mea) go from anywhere between 1k-3k. And the other teleports, go for 4-5k. And then you have random people offering 6k for a teleport-dem when they get impatient.

So in an hour I can probably make a good chunk of gil (20-50k) for half an hour's work.
