View Full Version : Why do girls on the internet.....

Dreddz
07-21-2006, 12:26 PM
Have to put things like babe or xxx or lady at the end of there name. Not this forum, I'd say we dont get much of that here but on other forums I see it all the time. Why do girls have to do this, do they want to stand out and show everyone there a girl on a male dominated site ? Is it attention ? I just dont get it, you dont find men putting things like muscle or grrrrrr at the end of there names. Usually its a lie, take this name for example.

xXxSeXiMinxXx

Firstly, how would we know there sexy, most arent, there lying to themselves by doing this and its really sad. Why do they have to blow kisses to me, are they trying to get my attention, flirting maybe, why would I want to flirt on a forum, I dont intend to meet them ? And saying minx is inclining that they are probably a rebel of some sort, it looks more sexually influenced, are they telling me that they'd be willing to have sex with me ? And the fact that most girls whp have these names online are in the regions of 12-17 I'd say its pretty disturbing that girls are that open towards sex, they do know that adult men are on the internet alot and that it'd probably be them who are being intrested and aroused by all this.

Opinions ?

They don't have a good self-estime, so they change their names! lool

However mine "sweet" doesn't have a pervert side but a helpful side! Translating, my sweet means that I care about other people, not that I'm cute and sexy!

:jokey: Am I now, eh, eh??

Haha honestly most people thought I was a guy when I went by XXXSephirothXXX :p And the XXX parts were completely innocent, I was 12 years old, x was my favorite letter, 3 is my favorite number, and I didn't know what xxx meant! xD (I guess it was just...fate, eh?)

And girls do that because then they receive more attention from guys. It's sad, but true, because it works. For example, on this online game I play, there is a girl called hunnie<3. I was actually having a conversation with some males on there and they brought her up and said, "Hey her username is hunnie<3 she must be hot!" ;) Silly, silly people ^_^

Also, my hotmail is ooChristmasoo because "Christmas" is already taken so I added some fancy letters in between my username as a substitute.

If a girl was to put xxx, I think most of the time its intended to look sexual in one way or another, im sure in some cases some put it because it looks cool but most of the time its not.
And i dont think people put xxx as a substitute, if it has words along the lines of sex next to it then I would say we state the obvious.

If someone thinks that putting "xxx" in their username makes it sexual they couldn't possibly be over the age of 12.

In the space it takes to write "xxx" twice you could write "F***Me"

For sexual arousement I think. I dropped into one site where you are supposed to play online games and chat at the same time so I entered 'Shygirl' as my username and all of a sudden men were already asking me if I'd like to challenge them. One guy didn't seem remotely interested in the game and was more focused on cybering. That grossed me out kinda like porn sites do.

These kind of usernames don't bother me but they do at times get repetitive

This annoys me to no end also, it is especially bad in chat rooms. But I noticed, when my friend was in a voice chat one time, that people mostly go on chat rooms because they want to talk about sex, usually because they are in dire need of it. This is why I stay away from chat rooms altogether.
And yes, its to be cool. I don't really mind names that have "cute" or "sweet" or "love" or anything like that, but when its like "NaughtieHottieXXX4U" it just drives me nuts.

I think that even those few on here who have it in their names are really rather unoriginal in screen name choices.

I stopped having underscores and numbers in my screen names years ago (ok so my e-mail has tonnes of the damn things but Psy was totally responsible for the e-mail address) it was only when I came back here I realized I had still got the underscore in this one and it went quickly. "XxX", "babe", "Angel" (I was the original person to register fallen_angel at hotmail with a ".com" suffix AFAIK so whilst I cannot talk about it much I realize my mistakes when I was 13 going 14 and corrected them in later life.) and the many other commonly used terms are totally unoriginal it's surprising if you browse some forums member lists just how many totally unoriginal screen names there are out there or clones of a screen name with one or two character changes or word changes (or worse numbers attached I.E. "Yuna Babe 1253" where the 1253 has no special revalence to that person it isn't a year of birth or anything just random numbers that the system generated to distinguish the two.) I accept that some however are either banned members changing their nicks to go bug admins or people having a laugh about it yet still that doesn't account for the million and one clones out there.

Worse still I'm a guy and way back when I was 13/14 up untill currently I have only had one internet name that has not sounded female to people out there on the net and that was "Beoran" (a character on a computer game I used to play) Before my current it was Lasuria and yes that is a female name it was used for a female character and yet it was original to call myself that how many other Lasuria's are there out there? Yet I got that sick of people either trying to find out where I was (having left the group of people who knew me as Lasuria rather sharply) or guys hitting on me wherever I went (hey not like it bothers me that much but it's the remarks you get when they find out I'm male IRL) I decided to change to this current one which although I think it is non-gender speciffic I get told it is once again a girly name lol.

My message to those people out there with these un-original screen names is to get out there and get a life. An original screen name is not too hard to find or make. In fact a good nick for the internet is something easy to remember or to spell without " _ " or "-" or "*" in it. We were all born individually and heck why the heck shouldn't we keep that originality you arent the "1253" copy of you so why should you be the "1253" copy online?

I think it's originally a chatroom thing. And being a girl myself, I know which types of girls do that. Usually the girly girls (I love boys, I love makeup, I love shopping types), or 12 yr old teenyboppers who have no sexual experience at all but are fascinated with it. I don't think many girls really get what they're putting out there when they choose usernames and think it'll be cool. But it's really not. It's totally lame.

I don't think people with names that include "babe", "lady", "girl/gurl", or "angel" in them are that bad. I mean there are millions of people on the internet. You can't expect all names to be original. "XXX" on the other hand, well that's a another story...maybe they think it looks cute. :eep:

No the Underscore thing is a matter of personal opinion. Some people can't help but like having long screen names such as your own FOA but then some of these people with imo stupidly long names such as yours (believe me mine used to be Flawed_fallen_angel_666 so I tar my own previous screen names here too) complaing when people shorten them down to the first letters such as FOA or as mine was FFA666 which is often unreasonable and also if someone has the screen name of "Super_sexy_16_yr_old_cheer_leader" for example and you shorten it down to "SS16YOCL" it looks totally stupid. :eep:

They do it because they want everyone to think that they are better than them and that they are hott. It makes them feel better about themselves, yet they don't realize how slutty they are. Most of them are probably just 12-17 year olds running around chatrooms because they have no lives whatsoever, and have no sexual experience (not like they even SHOULD) and think its interesting so they go and cyber. Whether they find some sick pleasure out of that or not, I don't care. But most of their screen names ARE suggesting that they want attention/sexual things. Sometimes the "xxx" is used to separate words, but that is usual for screen names on AIM. What annoys me a lot is when PeOpLe TyPe LiKe ThIs. Yes, I know my screen name is like that. I couldn't come up with one, I was young, and my brother typed it in..in fact, I desperately want it changed. It puts me out there as some little immature freak. o.0

Most of the girls that do that are just craving attention and are more than likely not that appealing if you saw them in real life. And what's even worse is when you tell them 40 year old fat guys are probably the ones cybering with them instead of 17 year old football players, some of them actually dont care. Besides, 17 year old football players probably have their preppy cheerleader real girlfriends to go to anyway.
