Who would like to see a Final Fantasy VIII movie? Many people would probably frown upon this suggestion however I think everyone including Square-Enix should give it a chance! They could construct the entire story by means of a kind of trilogy consisting of 4 separate movies dedicated to each disc or something like that. The whole plot has massive potential and I really believe they ought to consider making a movie. I know many will respond unenthusiastically on the grounds of disbelief, but it is exactly this kind of pessimistic approach from many FF 8 fans that force Square to be so reluctant. Instead of having a long list of responses that sing the same old discouraging tune, lets have some support and back up that may spark of a huge demand for a FINAL FANTASY VIII MOVIE!!!
FF7 fans got their movie, now it's our turn!

No it didn't. Maybe the characters seems fine but what about the rest of the world?
It should be, for PS3 or higher...
Squall's Story remake + Sequel, The game needs more missions (apart from Timber mission, and maybe Cid's order to check FH) there isn't anything new except follow the story line, the story line is perfect, but could have added more elements. Change the Junction System (I got a long list of that...)
They don't really need a remake, and I love the ending in FFVIII were they all live happely ever after but can you say the same for the rest of the world? Timber never got independance, Galbadia has no president, FH train tracks still don`t work, Shumi village is still isolated from the rest of the world, Winhill is still a small town, Missil base is destroyed*, Dollet confederation may think revenge on Galdadia while they have no president, the Kramers house is in ruins, Centra's still completly annihilated and still have no civilisation, and well Estar is in Total Chaos with super sized Killing Machine Monster running loose.
If you can see any element of story that can't be done in what I've said, I can give you a list...and add some more.

Exactly. There isn't a need for a sequel because it ended happily and the problems were solved.
Hyperion, do you have the any idea how expensive the PS3 and all of this other high-def crap is going to be? It's crazy. Only people with higher-than-average incomes will be able to afford anything.
I thought Advent Children was an excellent movie. I didn't see anything wrong with it.

False. Anyone With an income can buy a PS3.
Don't worry, the games will actually cost less because of the Blu-Ray Disk cheap cost production. (50$US PS3)
It's the System/Player that's expensif to built...
And they should drop their price! (600$US is still a lot!)

besides, by the time an ff8 sequal/ remake comes out, the ps3 would drop its price. A sequal/ remake would take at least 3 years and there's 3 ff13 titles so maybe 5 years later might we get a remake/sequal. If the ps3's price doesn't drop by then... well... that's just sad.
i don't like the idea of a movie though. about 1 hour of eye candy . SE doesn't make good movies. Only the graphics are good.

Yes and they won't do it, because they're money grubbing pigs, I wanted a fighting game or a shooting game with all the FF shooters if they put out those bad selling Chocobo Racing and Chocobo's Dungeon then they could release a good FF spin off for everyone.

No. Final Fantasy 8 was completed. There were no questions left answered and no room to build on to the storyline. So, there is no point for a movie, or game sequel.

Uh, no.
Most people have more important things to spend their money on like rent/bills, food, gas, etc. I doubt that someone is going to have an extra $600 lying around. Plus another couple hundred for a HDTV. That depends on your job, of course.
The Blue-ray disks are going to be more expensive to produce. Sony has said that $60 will be the minimum price for new games, and that some games might be as expensive as $100.

Oh well,
If you don't have the cash, may as well save your money and buy PC games on a system that can actually be upgraded to support new games.
Saves time and energy.
Sony strategy:
PS3: Plays PS,PS2, Audio CD, DVDs, PS3 Blue-Ray Disks Games & Blue-Ray Movies, Internet Adaptable...: 600$
Sony Blue-Ray Player: Only plays movies: 1000$
And that's true, lol
I totally agree when you say it's expensif!
(all new technology is...)
It was like my boss wanted to buy a new PC and goes to the store:
Boss: Is this ''the Blue Tooth technology'' the best thing on the market?
Salesman: Euh, well, yeah, it's kind of good...
My Boss: It's says it's new technology.
Salesman: Yeah, but you have to pay 20$ for an adaptor.
My Boss: I didn't ask wich one costed less, I asked you for the best stuff.
Right then, he knew the salesman didn't wanted to sell it.
Because this new technology is, without a doubt, going to sell a lot.
And if they don't sell their old stuff first, they'll be stuck with it.
Wondering why PS3 cost less than their Player?
Well, you'll have to ask them yourself.
(I think I know why, but I'm not them, so I can't confirm but only speculate...)
...and I always tend to post very long posts...
Final word of advice:
If you don't have the money right now, don't worry!
Wait until the price of it drops under 200$ and get it there.
And by the way, it's 50$ (average price tag) for the PS3.
Look it up on an Official Site.
The Blue-Ray Disks doesn't cost a lot to produce,
It's the players that are hard to come by...
And I would still love at least a remake of the game!

Make a New Generation Game/Movie, upgrade their styles.
Make like Killzone, you think the graphics is all movie, but it's the actual game.

Now that would be cool!

I noticed that the PS3 is cheaper than the Blu-ray players. That's what makes buying it more attractive, because I would be saving $400 if I wanted a player. Plus it plays games, not just movies.
Sony (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7763823&type=product&id=1142288677966) and Samsung's (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7772822&type=product&id=1142289574588) Blu-ray players both cost $1,000.
And by the way, it's 50$ (average price tag) for the PS3.
Look it up on an Official Site.
I've just spent an hour trying to find anything that mentions the price of PS3 games on Sony's sites. They have too much crap on their sites, and there is no way in hell I am waiting for it all to load, just to put something else in the search box and then be directed to another script-saturated site. You'll have to find me a quote where they say that every PS3 game will cost $50. I doubt you'll find one though.
The Blue-Ray Disks doesn't cost a lot to produce,
It's the players that are hard to come by...
Both the game and the player are expensive to produce. That's why the players are so expensive, and that is why the games will be so expensive.
King-Killer, Square has said that they are not making a FF7 remake for the PS3. That was just a rumor. The trailer was just to show how nice the PS3's graphics will be.

If so it needs to expand upon the plot.
Like AC.
Beacuse to be true to the game every second there'd be a fight, or itd be a really long movie. That'd suck. And I also wouldn't want the original version to be altered.

-Nine Hours of HD video (a DVD can store roughly two hours)
-26 hours of standard-definition video
-Backward Compatibility
So, again.

The ''JUNE Issue'' says that Blu-Ray Disk Movies are going to be sell for 23.45 (if I'm not mistaking, I just lost my Magazine YESTERDAY! damn.)
You can also go to 1up and check PS3 games.
altough theses aren't the OFFICIAL PRICE of the games, the real price will be shown when release, but 49.99$ is the average. (Some of them may be cheaper)
PS: You never know how much a retailer is going to charge you.
Beside, didn't I posted that you CAN DOWNLOAD GAMES ON YOUR PS3 FOR A PRICE CHEAPER THAN IT'S BLU-RAY FORMAT.

I find it equally easy to find both of them. It all depends on where you live. I don't see what that has anything to do with FFVIII becoming a movie though.
I also think money would be an issue in making an FFVIII film as I highly doubt they would make an FF movie with live actors. The cost of a CGI movie would be great and they wouldn't want to risk that on a game who's sales weren't the best in the series.
