Has anyone here completed their game 100% on their first game, without any kind of walkthrough or cheating device (or going through a new game plus).

I certainly haven't.

Without a walkthough? No. There's a part at the beginning that counts for a bit of percent that I would probably have never found without a guide.

This game is pretty much designed to be completed in multiple playthroughs. Getting 100% in one go sounds like pointless busy-work to me.

No, I ended up woth 68% the first time through, 79% the second, and 86% the third. Then I gave up and used a walkthrough.

it took me bout 9 plays of tha game to find out what to do 2 get 100% on tha game, and i've started 2 get 100% now :)

it is only possibe 2 get 100% if
. u have a walkthrough (i didn't)
. or u took the time and effort to find out EVRYTHING that u can do

i samshed tha X button in just bout all the cut scenes to try and get a whisle :p

Oh yeah, do you have to complete Via Infinito to get a 100%? As well as completing the PR missions for the Calm Lands?

You have to do PART of the Via Infinito (up to level 40 if you missed some of the smaller parts); otherwise, it is completely optional. But yes, you do have to complete the PR mission; this is mandatory for 100%.

Throughout the game, there is a total of 102.6%. So you can do some things, and miss out on the others and still get 100%. However, not all of the 102.6% is distributed evenly; for example, if you ally the Youth League, it is possible to get all 100% in one game (with a margin of less than 1%). However, if you ally New Yevon, the highest you can possibly get is 99%.

I just got the guide and I was trying to get 100%. I got all the way to chapter 5, and then the moonflow doesn't have a hotspot!!! I did everything, i'm sure, but the bandits took 1 chest. just one chest!!! that can't be it, can it???? NO!!!

sorry, that's it... if you wanna a episode complete on Moonflow, you CAN'T let the bandits get any damn boxes, as well selling ALL 10 tickets on chapter 2.

I missed the ENTIRE Chocobo/Clasko stuff
most of the Mi'ihen Highroad robot stuff
almost all of the Commsphere things in Chap.4

I got 84% on my first try I think. Also isn't it impossible to get 100% on your first try. I mean with the Sphere thing in chapter 2 where you decide to give it too New Yevon or the youth league.

it's possible to do it in one run, but difficult...so difficult one would say it's impossible.

I ended in the high 70-low 80%, I'm not sure anymore. But without a good walkthrough (and the official european walkthrough actually misses some points there), you can't get 100%, imo

I can't remember what I got the first time, but it was pretty low (I only did the hotspots, I didn't do any of the extra stuff you get by going through all the areas each chapter).

It's impossible to get 100% without a guide!
I mean you can easily lose percentage points -- like if you don't rest in cabin in the beggining of every chapter, or the whole commsphere network concept, or the PR points over 400 and a lot of others! <--- You can't just figure out some things!

For the record i got 91% in my first attempt!

with the guide and i've played it 10 friggen' times and still on 99%! my proplem is with catching chocobos and then relasing them on the mihen highroad, opening the cave and getting the repair book and then killing the experiment in the djoose temple for the 5th time and getting episode complete for djoose...(breathes), oh and sphere break...ive done everything else, its just thos friggen' chocobos!

Actually if you give the awesome sphere to the Youth League you can get 100% in one playthrough but it's extremely hard and I wouldn't advise it.

Yeah the replays make it enjoyable. Owning Leblanc at the beginning with excalibur is just entertaining, and reducing your MP cost to zero when the game says "Use Darkness Dance! =D" it's just like, rubbing it in their faces. .. Or something
