Ranger, Ninja.

Both are very expensive, and take alot of dedication to be a good player of each job.

Challenging? I wouldn't say any are "hard" - each job becomes easy once you get the hang of it and are dedicated to it. However, if i must name a job, I'd say beastmaster is the hardest, and most aggrivating, people look up to 75 bsts because of the amount of work needed to achieve that, solo especially.

Never make a new character just to change race, its pointless because at 75 the difference is minimal, besides, mithra is "technically" the best thf you can possibly have, plus you can't beat their dual-wielding stances.

Why does that matter? You gotta stop thinking about which race is best, you're a mithra, stay with it, you don't want to change race just to level nin, that really makes no sense. Mithra has the highest agi and dex, which is highly sought after for ninja. Stay with mithra. You will regret changing race if you do, its a waste of time and gil unless you have a specific reason to.

Hardest jobs? Well the more demanding ones are:

RDM-Keeping enfeebles, nuking, healing, refreshing etc etc...they do anything the mages arent covering elsewhere.

WHM-Keeping people alive mostly...its not really hard but more demanding especially at lower levels.

NIN-Shadows and etc @@

PLD-Keeping hate not dying etc...its not the hardest one though i would say but if you are an idiot you will die so much.

BST-Alone, so its up to your choices. Everyone thinks that BST is so cool that you can solo whenever, but usually they die tons due to bad decisions and no PT to back you up.

And possibly RNG with upkeep and knowing sweet spot

The most challenging job really is dependent and what you are doing.

You should really choose the race you'll most enjoy as it won't matter much. NIN, of all jobs, probably is the most skill based and least race stat based. We have several Taru NINs in our endgame shell. One of them is absolutely fantastic and tanks things you wouldn't think possible for any NIN, much less a taru.

If you think you're gonna play multiple jobs but are leaning toward jobs like THF and NIN I'd highly suggest Mithra. It's a very rounded job and while Hume is more rounded I think Mithra's roundedness outshines that of Hume. In the areas where they are technically weaker than Hume it makes little difference.

I think a challening job to level is BLU, simply cause learning all the various abilities is pretty challenging.

As for challening jobs in party situations, I'm really fond of WHM, cause you're constantly doing something.

Make sure you have bought the expansion pack that unlocks PUP.

Anyway, I agree with hannah that BLU is the most challenging.

Beastmaster is 50% skill and 50% luck. Did you know for example that the chance of a successful charm is inversely proportionate to your EXP TNL? As you get closer to dinging, top secret anti bst coding comes into play and all your charms fail and adds pop out of nowhere. You won't find that knowledge in Allakazham - it comes from personal experience in my taking the job to 20 so far. If you're looking for a challenge, Beastmaster is the job for you. I don't have the patience.
