Does anyone know what a good sub/starting job for a Puppetmaster would be ( i know they are knew)?

Warrior to 18, Monk to 37, Pup to 75. That's what I would do if I were a melee Pup. Monk is the best melee subjob for Pup as far as I know, and Warrior is the best subjob for Monk and of that I am sure. This is for the Pup who wants to melee alongside his automaton. No innate MP kinda supports this path.

Another popular trend is Pup/Whm, being played kinda like a summoner - the automaton does the fighting and the master supports the party like a summoner with a few cures and such. Blm to 18, Whm to 37, Pup to 75 - a good plan for a support oriented Pup. A C rank in hand to hand kinda supports this path.

You'll level warrior to 18 first because 18 is the highest it'll need to go. When you hit 18 you can quest for a subjob. When you do so, you'll change your job to monk and set warrior to your subjob. You'll be a level 1 monk/1 warrior. As you level monk your warrior will automatically be 1/2 the level of your monk. IE: at level 4 you'll notice your warrior sub is now 2 - this will happen all the way to 37. 18+18=36 - your subjob would be capped untill your monk hit level 38. Fortunately, you never need to take monk to 38 - 37+37=74 and 75 is the highest level in the game. Thus when you unlock puppetmaster, your level 37 monk subjob will be set all the way to the top.

Hmm i think they got a bump in H2h skill in the recent patch? Not sure some people say its B rank now and they have Dragon Kick and Howling Fist.

Most of the damage and stuff is on the Automation and not yourself. Hence probably race doenst matter as much. But if i had to say probably Elvaan. But it shouldnt matter a whole ton.

I'm not trying to turn newcomers off, but I feel its a fair warning:

Puppetmaster is quite expensive, buying frames and all, and this is the bad part, the new Toau jobs are quite difficult if you don't have a 70+ character, or have lots of friends, especially with AF later on. But hey, if you enjoy it and have love for the job, go ahead, it'll just be more challenging than a non-expansion job.
