View Full Version : Us people without signatures

If you're scrolling down a list of a thread you want to read some of (you're just skimming), do you usually skip us people without sigs?

And also, do you think that people with signatures are more easily recognized and like than us people without signatures? I hope not. My avatar should make all of you remember me though :)

No, I usually read everyone's stuff if I can. If there is 1,000 pages and I just went into the thread I skim through it.

I usually pay more attention to people without Sigs, because dependning on the Sig, you can tell exactly who the poster is, and whether or not they should be ignored. I usually ignore the avatar unless the person lacks a Sig. In which case, it doesn't incline me to remember anyone.

I pay attention to the post mainly. But sigs and avatars are good to look at at times

Yes. In fact, I skip everything. My post is all that matters.

Signatures are a big part of your image on forums; people begin to associate you with that particular image and those colours.

The only person without a sig that I skip is Yams.

Wait, but how will you know I'm mad at you? Someone tell RSL I'm mad at him for that comment. Please PM or post here with his response.

I believe that people without sigs usually don't last on forums because it makes them seem not as involved.

Or lazy. I mean, look at Yams.

Yamaneko
08-02-2006, 12:36 AM
I know, but now that you're former staff I don't think we can be seen together anymore. I have to look within my own social class for that little something in e-life and former staff just doesn't cut it. I mean look at what people are saying about eest and I. And that's just one group down.

EDIT: I'm too lazy to quote RSL.

I really don't pay attention to sigs as much as I do posts. Unless they look like Kyono's siggies.

I actually pay more attention to avatars than sigs. And I don't skip posts unless they're unreadable.

The people with sigs are more recognizable (if they don't change them every few days that is), but no, I don't skip the posts without sigs. If fact, I make sure to read them because they usually are the ones with more quality. Usually. :cat:

I use signatures as a way to further identify the posters. It's kind of a "oh, it's that member posting" thing.

But if a topic is worth my reading, it's worth my reading every post.

I'm cooler than Yams any day :( And Yammie said he would change my name but I can't decide what to change it to... *^_^*sUpErBunnNi3z4eva*~~~^_^*? ...haha, kidding XD Maybe.

Anyway I definitely notice people with the more recognizable sigs... sometimes I don't really look at who's posting what, and the sig helps me recognize people more :p I change my sig way too often though, but I like to think that I have awesome sigs >=D

Why don't you change your name to Sagensyg R best if it fits.

When I read things using the Simplified Style at work, I don't see anything but the username to tell you all apart, so I don't have that problem. Avatars, custom titles and sigs are disabled in that style.

At home, where I use EoFF Classic, I don't think I've ever had that problem, although I do find myself not noticing who the post is by. I still read it, just don't often pay attention to who it is that said it.

If there is a chance that I interested in a thread, I read every post in it. However, as I learn more and more about certain people, I do start to skim their posts, finding them not worth their salt to bother reading. Also, if you use a colored text and different font type, I am likely to ignore your replies altogether. I would not skip anyone's post until I feel that a poster has lost brain function altogether.

Also, people with signatures tend to be more recognized than people without. It helps their post stand out a bit more and if it is an attractive signature, it will draw one's attention to it. However, if you are changing your signature every day or week, people are not likely to associate you with one image for identification; the more static your signature, the more likely you are to be recognized as a person scrolls down a thread.

Avatars, too, can do the same, but because EoFF offers such a wide variety of default ones, many members use similar or same avatars, so people are less likely to know each other by avatars unless it is wholly unique.

I identify people by their usernames. It saves confusion.

Except when they get it changed and you have to guess who they are now!

I think my sig is very identifying.

I find myself usually attracted to the posts of people who don't have sigs as the posts naturally look shorter and simpler, even though they might not be so I'm quite the n00b.:(

I've had this sig for a long time and I hope I've brainwashed all of you into recognizing me. But instead of looking at names, I usually associate a person with their signature instead. It's just easier.
