My High-Res Final Fantasy VIII Wallpapers

I was browsing around and was impressed with the huge lack of high-resolution FF8 wallpapers. So i took some artwork from google and made my own :tongue:

They're all on 1280x1024, use them as you wish...

i only looked at one, i dont like selphies it appears shes crushed in the corner

Do a google image search. There are much better and bigger images on the web. Also you need to use images with larger dpi's (unless you intended the images to be that small).

They're OK, I guess. However, I would like to see a LOT more work put into them than just a background that varies in hue, a picture of a character and some text. For example, you could draw the characters yourself to get a new approach and some uniformity to the images. You could make the backgrounds from scratch by drawing them yourself, or you could use a location from the game which is connected to the character in question. Or just use white-space, it can look neat too, even if not that original.

I'll do one or two too, it'll probably be finished about this time tomorrow.

Well, you have absolutely NO idea how hard it is to cut down the drawings... See Rinoa for example, I had to rebuild parts of her body which were covered up by pink leafs, and her hair was damn hard to recreate in order to make it look average...

The wall behind the ripples is an effect I used.

Sorry for the Squall mispelling, i guess i used the wrong site to copy info.

All the images i got are from google images, yet there are no other ones that cover the entire hair without leaving part of the head outside the screen.

And by the way, I suck on drawing...

I would upload you some images I've already extracted but they're to big for the site. The only one that would fit is the one of Edea I used in my signature. The real question is what program are you using?

I do know how hard it can be, I'm a graphic designer for a living. However, the artwork could still not be called yours, which reduces the quality a lot IMO. But that's just one of the comments / suggestions you asked for in your first post.

I would add that the reason there isn't alot of high-res FF8 walls is because previous to FFX there just wasn't alot of high-res images to extract for them. It's a real pain. Unless you're willing to do as Rantzien suggested and make your own graphics you are going to be limited in your options.

Here is the wallpaper I've been working on. I drew the gunblade and Squall's face in Adobe Illustrator using other artwork as a reference only. I don't think it needs a backdrop.
