Chocobo, or Chocobo(cocabo)?

Im Confused... i always thaught that it was Chocobo, then some one i know always says its not Chocobo, its like coka as if its spelled cocabo only spelled chocobo.

It's chocobo, as in, choke. They say the actual word in the games. Not sure what it is in Japanese.

I've always pronounced it choke-uh-bow. I remember reading for the first time somewhere on Gamespot's wonderful boards a big rant about how it's pronounced similar to chocolate like "chawk-uh-bow" and the characters in X were saying it wrong :lol: It was kinda weird because I've never even thought of pronouncing it another way.

Anyway, we've heard the word voice-acted now, not much to debate about I dun think.

They've canonically established this and it's only ever been pronounced this way.

You can hear the correct pronunciation FFVI and FFX.

It's not chalk-a-bo. Consider it your civic duty to dope-slap anyone who pronounces it like that.

Okay, again, there have been TWO games where the word Chocobo has been pronounced out loud. The first was Final Fantasy VI. You can hear it at the very beginning to the song Techno De Chocobo where the phonetics are very distinct for being muffled by a vocoder and the SNES's lousy sampling rate. It was said again in Final Fantasy X and the pronunciation was crystal clear. It is pronounced with short Os. Choh-koh-boh.
