View Full Version : Router help
I'm interested in hooking up two PCs to my DSL connection. Would this product be what I was looking for, or would I need something different? Any recommendations or tips? Thanks.

That will work fine.

That will work fine.
It only has one ethernet port, though :p He'd need a switch to go on top of it if he went with that.
You'd just need one with some more ports. I'm not sure that they make two-port models, but there's a four-port, which I think is normally about as small as you get:

On the other hand, you could get that router and just get a cheap switch to hook up to, but that'd just kind of complicate your wiring (you'd need a cable from each computer to the switch, then a cable from the switch to the router).

I didn't even notice.
How come they're so expensive? I'm pretty sure Newegg has cheaper wireless routers which will come in handy regardless if you have a wireless network going.

Yeah, I noticed they were crazy expensive, too.
Here's the same one I linked to from Amazon, but cheaper on newegg:

And here's a wireless one I found for just a few bucks more, with the same amount of wired ports. I dunno, if might be handy if you plan on going wireless at some point, but it's up to you.

I didn't really plan on buying from amazon, that's just the link I found.
I didn't even notice that it only had one port either! But yeah, I just wanted to make sure I was in the right ballpark here. Thanks guys!
EDIT: Oh, and thanks for letting me know that those prices were high, I really had no idea what to expect.

I bought this one to set up a wireless network at my inlaws. Worked dandy, no install hassle (but you can use the wizard anyway), and it even works with my DS.
