And maybe Italian.

Nihongo wa benri na hanashimasu desu. That's probably grammatically wrong ("Speaking Japanese would be useful"), but I think it gets the idea across. I'm going there in a month, and have been trying to learn basic structures and stuff.

Italian, because I am indeed Italian and all of my family on my Dad's side speaks Italian. Also, because I sing a lot of Italian opera, and it'd be pretty helpful.

I'm terrible at speaking my native tongue. So I'd love to be able to master Cantonese.

If I were to be really unrealistic, I'd choose to master Mandarin too.

What really sucks is that I still suck at English. I'm like the Red Mage of being Chinese-Australian.

I wish I could speak French and German. I don't need to get any better at Welsh, as it's easy - just add 'iau' on the end of english nouns, and 'io' on the end of verbs.

Español!

Ditto. It'd come in sooooo handy, what with me living in Southern California and all. But outside of convenience, Spanish doesn't really appeal to me. I'd rather be fluent in Japanese or French just because they sound prettier. Also, Korean. I have basic skills in Korean but I'm not completely fluent and I'd like to be.

Tasura

Being from Canada I know basic French, and dont want any mroe if it (My elementary school and middle school and first 2 years of high school drilled it into your head until you knew enough to have a basic conversation, and thats just core french, if you were in french imersion you would be amde fluent in it)

And Id like to eventually amster the languages im taking in uni, Japanese, Chinese, Latin and German. And since this is a wishing thread, Ill just be greedy and say all of em, including the long dead languages like the one the Aztechs used =D

If I had one wish, my wish would be to know everything. But if that was out, I would wish to be completely fluent in every language, from everywhere, ever, real or fictional, throughout the universe.

I would kinda like to learn Spanish, for no other reason than it would be conveinent. Italian because of my family history, French, because its pretty, and I would like to be more proficient with Latin. All I know is goofy stuff and insults, which is fun actually...:)

Spanish because we're moving out to California because if there was one thing that I learned at Grandma's house it's that there are a lot of Mexican people in California. Since I'm tanned, have black hair and dark eyes people there mistake me for Mexican over there (people here mistake me for Asian here since my eyes are kinda tilted) and start talking Spanish at me and I don't know what they're saying.

No, whenever I went outside the only people in the neighborhood were Mexican people. And this was years before I learned much about illegal immigration.

Japanese. Then I could understand more than a few words/phrases in all the songs I listen to. And if I could read it, I could play games, read books, and watch anime that is released Japan but has yet to be released in America.

A little Vietnamese would be nice out of guilt that I know NONE at all even though I'm a whole half. Or French. Because I have to learn it anyway so I can talk to my family in France. Whenever it is I visit them again o.O;;

First and foremost, Japanese. I hope to have it as a minor in college.

Second would be Mandarin Chinese. From what I gather, Mandarin and Japanese have the Kanji characters in common.

I'd also like to learn German. It sounds cool.

I used to want to learn Korean when I had an interest in Korean soaps, but as my interest in that waned, so did my interest in the language. It seemed surprisingly easy compared to Japanese to me.

Latin, Spanish, and Japanese. I love using those languages. I already am excellent with Spanish, so getting better won't be too hard. Latin is the most beautiful language to me.

French is the most annoying language to me. Too bad I'm 20% French. :(

And Newspeak, despite it being a product of a (basically fictional) totalitarian government, would be awesome too, I love 1984.

Latin. In fact, I am teaching myself this language through various books at the present moment. It's not incredibly difficult, but it is still something of a challenge.

After learning Latin, I would like to learn French and Japanese as I plan on visiting or living in either of those countries for a bit.
