Title says it all. My wife and I have been playing EQ2 for quite some time now but before that we played FFXI. We quit FFXI because we got tired of deleveling every time we leveled. That was annoying...now we are getting bored and are thinking of coming back. Are there any recommendations on what server to play that has a lot of good natured people or what changes have been made in the last 2 years to make it better? Anything to help us make our decision either way would be great...just toss your opinions out for us please. By the way I used to play on Queztalcoatl.

Well if you post that in a FFXI forum don't expect anyone to be against it. :p

Secondly, yes I think you should come back. FFXI is a great game. Since two years ago you'll find that there are now more jobs, items, places, missions, quests, and than you can shake a stick at. There is also a new form of PvP and many other innovations that I probably don't even know about.

Square Enix will also be introducing Chocobo Breeding very soon. I don't know much about this but I do know you can race your breeded Chocobos, although Square Enix hasn't revealed what this is going to be like yet. I'm hoping for player controlled Chocobos. :excited:

I wouldn't know which server to pick for you. Ifrit kinda needs more people like you though (You can spell properly). Either way, there are alot of decent people that are willing to help. If by any chance you decide to go for Ifrit I'm usually up for helping newbies get their Subjob items and other help (not for monetary issues though. Monetary advice maybe, but you're better off asking someone else who actually makes money).

There are probably alot of other things that were introduced since two years ago, but I've only been playing for approximately 8 months.

Yeah, I've seen people return to FFXI, they're all like "wow it's so different now" 'n' stuff.

I quit the game for close to two years, and when I came back the biggest difference I noticed is that - for the most part - everyone knows what they're doing. It was a lot easier to level up, there were more people available and eager to help you through, and delevels had become a rather rare occurance. It originally took me a couple months to get to level 25, but the second time around I found myself there in a week or two. Much of this is due to the plethora of power levelers hanging around Valkurm, Qufim, and Kazham. After you get past that point, most party's can easily sustain themselves if they know their limitations.

The only thing that's really gotten worse is how difficult it can be to earn money. Thank you, gilsellers.

I recomend Cerberus to people since I think its got alot of good people on it. Iv been playing for about a year now and i dont know of a better server and people that came to Cerberus also said they like it better. If you decide to take this advice /tell me my name is darksoulgiant.:D

I need a buddy in Phoenix ._.

probably the best thing about FFXI is the current state of communnnnnity, it hasnt fallen low like WoWs civil situation.

If you and your wife would like to play with another husband and wife couple (with our own LS for helping all level players) you can join Fenrir ^^

Some things that you may like that have changed are the things that have changed in XP. They smoothed out the level grind from 50-75 a very long time ago and made it a little easier to get there. They also added rings that give you XP bonus so that also makes it easier to level up. More people know what they are doing so that also makes it easier.

Beyond those things, a lot of other things have been changed that would be impossible to list. I don't really see FFXI dying any time soon but it is more of a hardcore MMO as you may remember. A good thing is the extremely social aspect of it vs other games. I find it great for me and my wife.

I heard a rumor from a friend at work that they block your account and force you to buy a new copy of the game if you dont play for 6 months...is this true? My wife and I are having problems getting everything registered again.

That's if you cancel your POL ID, which you should never have to do, ever! It's free to keep.

Ouch!

It's actually a three month reactivation window if you delete your POL ID. Like Omecle said, there's no reason to ever delete it. I deleted mine simply because I never wanted to give myself a chance to come back to the game, but, well, I did come back. Again. Quitting doesn't work well for me.

Yeah...see they screw with your head on that. I was told to cancel my POL ID by them when I called support to cancel. Frickin money mongers. But my wife and I just went and bought two new copies of the game. Did someone tell me that they and thier wife play on a server? Im thinking either Cerberus, Bahamut or Fenrir...not sure which yet.

My wife and I play on Fenrir. If you like I'll PM you a WP for you and your wife to join our server ^^ Also, if you want to, we can get you a pair of Gold WPs which have added benefits (cool items after certain amounts of time). I'd go ahead and pick some up but my wife is asleep and sometimes she doens't like to wake up in a home city because I walked her there. One person can only buy one at a time so if you want to wait (and decide to come to Fenrir) we can get one for both of you sometime tomorrow (or I guess technically today 8-20).

We have an LS set up that currently has mostly lower players and aims at helping with things like rank missions, sub job items, Limit Breaks, AF and the such.

you can cancel whenever. but if you cancel for 3 months or more, your character info is deleted

Ouch!
08-20-2006, 09:49 PM
I do believe that your character information is guaranteed for one year now. After that there's a chance that it won't be deleted, but it's possible that it will be.

My wife and I both made characters and they both ended up on Bahamut...seems like the people here arent too friendly though...think im gonna have to start over on another server for sure.
