It was really well written and the preformances by Joseph Gordan-Levett, Michelle Trachtenberg, Brady Corbet and Elisabeth Shue were really just stunning !

I wanted to see this film a while ago, I still haven't gotten around to it. I only really want to see it because it was scored by Harold Budd.

I saw this movie in French and didn't understand a word of it. That's what I get for downloading movies. >.<
However, one of the scenes toward the end... WHOA holy crap. O.O
It definitely looked like it was a well written movie.

The one right before he goes back from NY ?
The scene with Billy Drago was nuts !
And i loved the friendships formed in the movie ... it was sooo believable , not once did i have the presence of mind to remind myself that this was "Just a movie".
I think i will have to add this one to my collection >.<

You just need to post the question once for it to get answered. That's all it usually takes.
Every time I've gone to Blockbuster for the past couiple months, I've looked at the box and I've been really curious. I'd love to see it. From what I read, it sounds like it'll be a bit different, and refreshing! Joseph Gordan-Levett is awesome, so it also has that going for it.

Here is a plot summary (sorry it took so long to respond) :D
"The summer I was eight years old, five hours disappeared from my life. Five hours, lost, gone without a trace..." These are the words of Brian Lackey (Brady Corbet), a troubled 18 year-old, growing up in the stiflingly small town of Hutchinson, Kansas. Plagued by nightmares, Brian believes that he may have been the victim of an alien abduction. Local Neil McCormick (Joseph Gordon Levitt) however, is the ultimate beautiful outsider. With a loving but promiscuous mother (Elisabeth Shue), Neil is wise beyond his years and curious about his developing sexuality, having found what he perceived to be love from his Little League baseball coach (played by Hal Hartley veteran Bill Sage) at a very early age. Now, ten years later, Neil is a teenage hustler, nonchalant about the dangerous path his life is taking. Neil's pursuit of love leads him to New York City, while Brian's voyage of self discovery leads him to Neil - who helps him to unlock the dark secrets of their past. Based on the acclaimed novel by Scott Heim, "Mysterious Skin" explores the hearts and minds of two very different boys who come to find the key to their future happiness lies in the exorcism of their collective demons.
There ya go :)

I haven't heard of it either. I might look for it next time at the vid. store. I watched Gordon-Levitt (and others including Don Cheadle) in Manic about some kids in a juvenile center. It reminded me, somewhat, of my (melodramatic) adolescence, and it probably would have had a sizeable impact on me if I had seen it during said adolescence.

Me and my ex had an argument after it just because it had brought up alot of feelings.... it was, wow. a movie that could actually make you do something like that.
