This was featured on tv when adults and kids alike did watch it.
Do you think this would be ok to do in todays society to make a new commercial similar to this. I dont know if the idea would be all too common but would you have a problem with it? Or do you think it could happen in todays society?

WAs it wrong back then do you think?

It probably wasnt wrong back then. But I'm sure people thought it was hilarious all the same.

You think under-age smoking increased back then?

"I can't stand to see them work so hard, let's go around back where we can't see them".

Heh, I had forgotten why I liked that show.

They've decided to censor Tom and Jerry here in England, and edit out any acts of smoking.

This is amusing. And I'm sure plenty of people will get entirely the wrong idea about it.

Honestly, I wouldn't care if they had the teletubbies or Barney promoting cigarette smoking nowadays. TV blows ass.

It wasn't wrong back them because nobody cared. Cigarettes weren't viewed as the giant monster of death as it is today. That commercial looks like it's from the 60 and if I recall correctly, they didn't even discover that cigarettes promoted lung cancer untilt he early 70's. So yeah. It wasn't that big a deal then.

If I see someone jumping off a cliff saying it's cool, I'm going to do it. :thumb:

Technically, it wouldn't be right today, because cigarette makers are banned from advertising on TV.

It's also wrong anyway just on moral basis of trying to sell cigarettes to the target audience of kids younger than ten. But again, it was the sixties, and people didn't know any better.

What's the big deal?

I'm more concerned about the discrimination against women portrayed in this commercial than the smoking. Pssh.

Actually, the Flinstones were the Simpsons of the 60s. They had a Prime Time slot and believe it or not, this is marketed towards adults.
