BLM is the fastest to level is it not?

It'd probably be best to lvl WAR because he can sub it for most of the jobs he listed anyway.

No, not really.

And he can't sub BLM with the jobs he wants to level.

To the OP: Don't worry about Tarutaru melee, I'm a 75 Tarutaru Paladin. They are excellent as melees, anyone who tells you otherwise are just plain ignorant -- People love me in dynamis.

Since changing race is out of the question, I guess WAR is the way to go. You might have a hard time finding a party till you get a subjob though. Since you're a subless taru melee and all.

You'd be suprised how easily you can get invites as a Tarutaru melee.

not as often as others. Also you have a low hp and its not to safe to be in the front, and your strength isnt that grand either. Plus your sword is like a tothpick to me.

Aside from AoE you shouldn't be getting hit so HP shouldn't be an issue unless you are a tank. As a taru PLD, max HP matters very little because you have so much MP to help compensate by not only curing yourself to cover the HP but generating more hate by doing so.

and your strength isnt that grand either

Perhaps the biggest downside to taru melee, though our RSE makes up for this pretty well. However, the difference is pretty miniscule really and sometimes can be beneficial. Instead of being a melee that continually steps over the hate line and getting wtfpwn'd you can much more easily maintain a good DoT without causing the mob to turn and eat your face.

For me the only time I look at race is in Valkurm cause then is the only time it really matters (the race makes up for the n00bs.)

First, WAR's use axes and great axes. Second, I have taken my Taru WAR to 40 and I've done amazing damage -- it's quite easy to keep up with any other race. Thirdly, no, the only time you can get one shotted as a tank is when other races can get one shotted too, if you equip yourself right.

I hate it how so many idiots come to the conclusion that Taru can't be any sort of melee. Okay, get this folks -- I am a 75 Tarutaru Paladin, and I do absolutely fine in end-game, by tanking things (PLD don't deal damage), and I know pleanty of other melee DD Tarutaru's that can output some of the highest figures! WAR's, DRG's, THF's, MNK's, SAM's, DRK's, you name it.

So get that stupid illogical thought out of your mind once and for all, you could have thought about them like that when the game first came out but it's been a few years since then and everyone has realised they do just fine!

Edit: Just to add. I had also gotten THF, WAR and NIN to 40. And I just wanted to tell you the road to those levels with those jobs were extremely fun in that I had no troubles getting parties or keeping up with the job just because of my race.

The differences between the races gets smaller and smaller as the levels go up. So sure, a high level taru melee is good. But before that they will have a problem finding a party in Valkurm. Especially if they don't have a subjob.

No, no problems I have encountered, or a few of my Taru friends. Not sure if that's the same for everyone -- but you know the differences still aren't as much as you think at low levels apart from MP and HP (which is still noticable at high levels).
