Well, I just happened to beat Zelda: Oracle of Ages, and I got the "Secret of Holodrum". I'd assume it's for Oracle of Seasons. But I want to know: What do secrets edit in the game? Also, should I do a linked game if I haven't beaten Oracle of Seasons yet, thus editing the story of Seasons?

A linked game features more or less the same story as a non-linked game except that it contains the proper ending to the Oracles plot, so there's really no reason not to go that route.

The password you got from the end of your first game mainly serves as proof needed to begin a linked game. It also transfers certain data such as which animal friend you acquired, but it doesn't affect anything major. What's more important are the additional passwords you get from NPCs as you progress through your linked game. Repeating these codes to the corresponding NPCs in your original game will unlock rewards such as the Master Sword, the Mirror Shield, Bombchus, and the Biggoron Sword.

There are also a few more ingame events.

As a note though, a linked-game is in a way, easier than a normal game, since when you carry through a lot of the secrets to the second one you play, you get so much extra stuff. Still, it's how the game's meant to be played. If you really want to experience it fully, try playing linked-games both ways; Ages to Seasons, and then Seasons to Ages.

Along with everything above, I believe that you start out with an extra heart container as well.

Yes, that's right. And a special ring that doesn't really do anything. :p

I think you also start off with a shield or something in one of them if you play it second. My memory is a little foggy, but I think you have to buy a shield in one of them, but you get it for free in a linked game.

Yeah, a shield and an extra heart container is the deal.
There are also a few more ingame events. The only one I can think of is the Zelda rescue event, but Zelda's very presence in Labrynna/Holodrum ties into the whole "proper ending" thing.

Well, you also get to see the kid you named grow up to become an adult too.

Ah, thank you for all the replies. n_n Upon reading them, I started a linked game. (I thought I needed a link cable to do a linked game before. u_u;). I managed to get an extra heart container in OoA by getting a secret from Seasons, but then I found that the battery is dead in my OoS cart. >_<

Again, thanks for all the replies. I truly appreciate it. :D

Get a new copy of OoS. That game rocks.

Trust me, I will. From the 1 dungeon I completed, I can tell it rocks. :p
