Yes.

I love Silent Hill. I have only ever played (and never beaten) 1 and 2. I know alot of the story from the 3rd and 4th due to accidental spoilers, and then later thinking : "Hey, I already know Alessa transmigrated into Heather, why not read about how James actually killed Mary!!"

So yeah, I know a bit more than I'd like to about the games I haven't beaten, but hey.

My favourite characters are Angela and Heather, I've never played SH3 but I like it the best just based on the music and monsters alone :P

I'd like to say I'm a fan, but I couldn't even get through SH2 because I got so scared and stressed out. So I guess it was good...a little too good. I'm scarred.

I love the series, but I always manage to get painfully stuck somewhere down the line by some puzzle. In SH1 I was stuck for the longest time on the piano puzzle and then kicked myself years later when I realized how obvious it was. I forget what stumped me in SH2, but i'm gonna start a new game quite soon. I got The Silent Hill collection that has all 4 games, a great buy.

absolute horror. i just beat Silent Hill 4: The Room and buried it under some more "light-hearted" games. i'm in the middle of Silent Hill 2, still attempting to solve that giant puzzle cube. unfortunately, my journeys come to a dragging hiatus, and while i regret lending my brother games he never returned to me a few years ago - well - he "took" Silent Hill 3 so that his friend could borrow it. i know his "oh, i lost it" cliches are too crummy to fool me. well, he's very cooperate in paying his taxes to me, since the new games i get to play for the past few years were all on his credit card ^_^. oh and one more thing, other challengers to Silent Hill's horror calibur are going to be definite pushovers...

Silent Hill 5 hasnt been released in Japan. The next Silent Hill title is Silent Hill: Origins. But thats still not SH5. SH5 will most likely be on a next gen console in a year or two...

Not much is known about Konami's next Silent Hill title. While very little has been officially confirmed, Chief Designer of Silent Hill 5 Masashi Tsuboyama stated in a 2004 interview that the game would not appear on any of the then-current consoles. He also clarified rumours during the same interview that it wouldn't be titled "Shadows of the Past" as reported previously from one website.

According to IGN, many speculate that the game is already in development and that the game is likely to be released on the Sony's upcoming PLAYSTATION 3 video game console to be released in early November 2006, though nothing has been officially announced[5]. Many people believe that it will be set in a mental asylum (perhaps Brookhaven hospital) and will be told through a series of flashbacks depicting how the main protagonist got up to that point, though this has generally been associated with the Shadows of the Past rumour and has virtually no basis.

On an episode of Electric Playground, Tommy Tallarico asked a developer about Silent Hill 5. He responded "It's a good time to be a Silent Hill fan," and the interview ended. There was a segment on the Silent Hill series after, and it was stated that the game would be released on current and next-gen consoles, but it was not said which ones.
Where does it mention Japan?

I like the Silent Hill franchise. I might go as far to say it's better than the Resident Evil franchise.

Guys, lay off. I understand being frustrated with someone who's misunderstood information, or whatever, but let it go. You know you're right.

I do love Silent Hill. 2 will always be my favourite. I'm dying without any new ones to play. :( Especially cause I didn't REALLY love 4. It didn't feel as Silent Hillish as I would have liked.

I know what you mean...as soon as I finish the first SH, and I'm sure it will be soon, I will just have to wait for more. I guess I could replay all of them though...

I've always liked Silent Hill, but more for the mood of the games than the enjoyment of the gameplay.
I still think Resident Evil leads the way on that. Apart from the spin-offs.

In my opinion, Origins will be the most important Silent Hill to date, whilst it isnt in the mains eries, it tells the crucial backstory of the town, which I cant friggin wait for !

Silent Hill was the bane of my dreams when I was younger, but I couldnt get enough of it. Later inmcarnations were great, but didnt have the same feel as the first. The third freaked me out the whole way through, and the fourth was barely scray for me..

That said, cant wait till future installments

I just hope the Silent Hill series doesn't go in the direction of the Resident Evil series, losing all it's puzzle elements to become a mindless actionfest.

Oh man, your right. It should stick to the same formula over and over again and ignore all urges to try something new. :thumb:

The Silent Hill series hasn't done the same thing over and over again. Silent Hill 4 was a big departure from every other SH game like Resident Evil 4 was from every Resident Evil game.

Jsb01

I enjoyed Silent Hill 4 quite a bit. I think they should experiment with some new ideas, but hopefully they will continue with the same overall feel of the games. It would suck if they got rid of the puzzles.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not against new directions in the series, I just hope the psychological feel and the puzzle solving isn't taken away.

We didnt pay for a action game with little relation to previous RE titles. It wasnt just the gameplay that got changed. It didnt satisfy the RE traditionalists who loved RE for what it was before RE4.
